Exclamation Consolidated NW/DL Operations in SEA

I just got off of the phone with Russ (from the SEA SC/WC). I guess all of the DL flights in SEA are now operating out of S terminal as of this week. As a result, there has been a huge influx of legacy DL SC members into the NW WC (now SC). They had a DL reservation computer show up at the same time, with NO TRAINING on how to use it. I told Russ that is what us business professionals call "baptism by fire".

Along with these changes, the WC has been "re-badged" as a SC. And the food regimine has been altered to meet the SC guidelines. From what Russ told me, it amounts to some interesting snacker choices that weren't there before, but with more complex "schedules" about what food is to be put out for members and when. The best (choice) stuff is out from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (dinner time).

I'll be passing thru the SEA SC tomorrow (Thursday) on my way home for the 4th. I'll post a more detailed report from there on what I see.

Sorry but this is old news and there are already two other threads talking about it.

DL moved to the S gates starting on June 23rd.

On or about that date is when DL & NW consolidated their check-in at SEA.

Since I am still one of the unlucky US-based flyers who can't check-in online, ever, I will have the pleasure of joining the fiasco that is DL/NW check-in at SEA tomrw morning. Wish me luck...

Thanks for the info/update! I'm really worried that they will change it so that for most of the day they will only have biscoff and that stupid pretzel mix! I can't imagine they are saving that much money by getting rid of the cheese and carrots most of the day.

I'm more concerned that there won't be a place to sit. I don;t recall that location being very big.

There might be a short term problem with sitting space...BUT there are definite plans to expand the club, so long term it should be a problem. But changing the food offering will most likely be a permanent issue/problem...

Maybe poopdeck can give us an update on the expansion plans?

Arrow Plans for SEA SC

I talked to a SEA SC staff member today, and she found out from one of the DL Directors out here that there will be a brand new, 7000 SF Sky Club built on the 2nd floor of the S Terminal which will take 18 months to build. Unfortunately, no start date has been committed to. I stop by the SEA SC weekly, so I will see what I can find out in terms of more details on this development. ^

In the meantime, I have posted a few pictures of the current food offerings (mid-day) out here to my Facebook account (I will do a separate post for the food offerings available from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the new SEA SC):

The Empty Refrigerator:

The Nutella:

The Biscoff's:

The Spicy Asian Snack Mix:

The Dried Fruit Snack Mix:
http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._5526328_n.jpg

Currently, they have out the spicy asian snack mix, dried fruit, the ever present cinamon Biscoff's and an American produced hazlenut spread (very popular in Europe) called Nutella (with no crackers other than the Biscoff's to spread it on). To my chagrin (although from all of the posts on FT on this subject - I was not surprised)... there was NO TILAMOOK CHEESE available! This is a major bummer for me, since I do like to have cheese to get my protein intake requirements met after having had Gastric Bypass Surgery last November. This stinks! In addition to the two scathing TTU's and E-mail Us complaints I have filed on this - I am giong to be calling the head SC Management on Monday to "re-negotiate" my 3 year re-up which actually doesn't kick in until the end of the year. I'm thinking a $100.00 rebate at this point to cover the diminished offerings.

As far as logistics go for NW/DL flights at Sea-Tac: It was a tad bit congested at the SEA SC when I arrived at around 1 p.m. - mostly due to the 12:10 SEA-MSP flight being delayed. It also doesn't help that the good folks working at the SEA SC are having multiple issues with their computer systems and have to actually write down information about customers coming in, in order to preserve the data and not loose the data from a involuntary computer system incident or glitch! Having said that - it is CRAZY busy and crowded going thru the security checkpoint closest to the S Terminal tram and also crazy before, during and after the tram ride to S Terminal... now that the DL flights are arriving/departing from here. It's almost shoulder to shoulder... but not quite.

I'll let everyone know about additional information about the future plans for the SEA SC as I find them out...

Wow, that's lame. I visited the NW lounge back in April going out to FRA and it seemed pretty close to the AS Board Room in quality of foodstuffs, and somewhat better in booze, since while AS has decent wine and beer in their lounge, and even things like soup and oatmeal, their well booze for mixed drinks resembles paint thinner (I wouldn't even TRY a gin martini with that stuff, and even the vodka's not so good)- they charge for call drinks, whereas the NW lounge served call drinks for free.

So much for "best in class".

FYI. Nutella is not new nor is it soy based. Nutella is made from hazelnuts and it is divine. IMHO Nutella is one of Europe's finest exports. For a real treat try spreading Nutella on the Biscoff cookies - yum!

I love Nutella, alas American Nutella isn't as good as European nutella because they use different (read cheaper) ingredients...

I also like biscoff cookies...but Nutella ON Biscoff is just asking for a diabetic coma!

In one Deltified club DTW, B/C club it think, they filled the empty refrig up will beer glasses, so at least you now have a chilled glass. Only until DL figures out how much electricity the refrig is using.

I always though NW was the bean counter airline, and the new US Airways (AW) was the cheap skates airline. I guess DL is trying to take that title away from US. I am elite on all three airlines and belong to both clubs. I was not going to renue US membership, but they are improving their club so I might. If I did not fly NW//DL so much, and the Deltafication of the NW clubs I would not renue, but I am captive.

It has always REALLY bothered me that the hummus comes in little glass jars! A year or two ago they had a different brand of humus that came in one of the paper pyramidal type containers (tetrapacks?)...which (assuming the paper biodegrades) were MUCH better for the environment!

Considering all the energy/resources that go into make a glass jars, and the fact that the glass will be in a landfill FOREVER I always feel too guilty to actually eat that hummus...

Ahem. In my EFR courses, diabetic coma is the result of lack of glucose, not an excess.

I'll have over ten hours on August 5 to monitor the changes. Taking the photographs should provide a nice break from work, Internet surfing, and Skype calls.
