Is this new? I linked on Feb 4 and didn't get any bonus....or is it only for WP to SM?

The 500 bonus miles will post 4-8 weeks after the end of the promotion (Mar 15th).

Seems to work quite well. I did it this morning to get all of my remaining miles in one place to upgrade a flight. The transfer was done instantly much to my amazement.

I am afraid of what it might do to award bookings in the WP system if I merge accounts... I do not want to screw anything up before my trips are completed.

None that anyone has discovered so far.

What about your award bookings are you afraid of? Upgrades maybe?

Do we have any idea yet what will happen to WP account numbers post merger? I don't have any SkyMiles... and I'm not familiar enough with the number ranges for each airline. Everyone I know in WP is either 9-digit or 12-digit starting with a 1; SM people I know appear to mostly be 12-digit starting with a 2 or a 4... but my sample size is small. Will I keep the same number as a SM member?

Miles Expire

If your SkyMiles account has expired or is about to expire, it seems that NW miles transferred would immediately expire. I have not seen this addressed in the enticement to transfer to DL.

I had "expired" miles (~9k) on DL, that I linked to NW, transferred, and after 2 weeks - still there + the 500....so far it works.

I thought all SkyMiles numbers are 10 digits but I don't have any sample size.

Don't fret, they'll be back within reach of DL's heavy hand soon enough.
