Customer Relations Bonus
Was on a NW flight from YWG two weeks ago. Air temperature was -38, and the FAA only allows flights to leave when it is -33 or warmer. Needless to say, we had to wait for about 4 hours due to the oppressive temperatures. Obviously, as an experienced traveller I had no issues, although many in the waiting area did. Well, I looked into my account and there were 5,000 miles deposited which I assume was due to the delay. They also bought coffee and pastries for two flights as well.
Way to go NW!

I had the same thing happen after an AUS-DTW flight was delayed more than 4 hours due to weather in Detroit. There ended up only being 11 people on the flight, all but 2 in FC. I agree that customer service is quite generous when they have delays like that.

Yes, I've had NW do this for me a couple of times, too.
Sadly, they were only for 2500 miles.
But, I'm not complaining!

We were credited 5K for a flight delayed to the next day because of weather out of AMS first of the year.
We were the fortunate ones. Many people on our CDG-AMS leg missed their flights because of delay out of CDG. No compensation, nada.
We got hotel, food, amenity kits and miles because our flight got "delayed" to the next afternoon.
Although this isn't the KLM forum, I have to issue kudos to our CDG KLM crew. They kept us fed and watered during our two hours on the ground waiting for clearance to AMS. Even the pilot was back in coach talking to the pax. Funny thing, he used his cell to call his wife and tell her he was going to be late getting home.
