I'm guessing you're on the 10:10 flight? If so, get to the gate early and ask if they are overbooked. You may even get a $300 bump voucher out of the deal (and possibly seats in F on alternate flights). This is of course only if you don't have to be at RSW at a specific time (or at all tomorrow, because most of the RSW options look full).
Good luck!
Good luck!
When I completed OLCI, the screen said that my flight (10:10am) was overbooked and suggested that I arrive early at the airport to get on the waitlist if I was interested in a voluntary bump. I called the res line to see if I could be rebooked over the phone, and the CSR was completely unaware of the type of notice I received. She said she couldn't do anything.
So I will try to get to the airport and see if they will rebook me through DTW, which leaves sometime around 10am and arrives in RSW at 4:15pm. I am meeting a friend who arrives at 3:45pm so I don't want to be much later than that. But a re-route would be worth $300!

Make sure you request a "bump" by asking if they need volunteers. Don't give them a free re-route.

Interesting...I've never seen the OLCI screen say anything similar either. Like I said, things look pretty full tomorrow. You could potentially rack up a lot of money in vouchers, but if you're meeting a friend there, then I wouldn't risk too much.
Looks like the DTW connection option arrives at 4:31. However, you're not going to get F on that one either, I don't think (at least not on the MSP-DTW section):
______________B F H K L M P Q T V Y
Northwest 1722 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 6
Northwest 1106 0 2 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0

For something that has been the subject of so much discussion it sure seems like there is so much confusion about this. FWIW, here is what happened to me last week for travel to DUS:
Did OLCI but then found out I could leave earlier so I had them remove the checkin so I could look for FlyNow/Standby the next morning. Next morning nothing available so I go to check in again only to find that my exit row on TATL leg is gone. Apparently, when I was unchecked, the system took away my seat assignments and randomly reassigned me. Now all exit rows full so I'm screwed. Fortunately, supervisor at gate was able to move a Plat to WBC and then gave me back my exit seat.
I would imagine that had I not checked in at all, had I just cancelled during OLCI before getting to the last two steps, this probably would not have happened. But it is obvious that there are still glitches in the system and until a better product is put in place it sounds like you still need to play the shell game.
It sure would be nice to get this settled and then all of these threads can be closed and archived.

Well I found this thread a little too late it seems. I completed check-in for my flight DTW-BOS tomorrow and was waitlisted for the upgrade. Right now it's P4 F3 and if I try a dummy booking there are 4 open seats (I know, never trust the seat map).
I'm CO plat but travelling on a K fare so I suppose I'm close to the top but not at the top of the upgrade list.
I guess I'll check at the WC when I get to the airport and see what they have to say. Hopefully whatever seat I end up with will be somewhat cleaner.
My 1A seat on the outbound had some brown substance caked to the seat under the armrest which I hope was just a melted Kit Kat..
