Comping from Delta
I am fed up with the SkyMiles changes, and plan to comp to NW. I am DL gold presently.
When should I send my info in to get a comp through Feb. 2005? I will not fly enough in whats left of 2003 to requalify if the comp is only good through Feb. 2004.

There's quite a few threads both here & in the archives that detail the comp process.
From other FTer experiences, if you do a comp now, you'll receive Gold via March 2004 ... but in March you'll receive another card via 2005 ...

Why not call Northwest? They should know their own policy...
We comped last December and got through 2004 (will requalify honestly next month through 2005, folks).
A thread over on Delta says a flyer there was just comped through 2004 also. (He expects to make enough between now and then to earn it honestly, too).
So evidence is sometime between July and December. As I said, why not call and ask? It won't cost you anything.

Calling might be ok, but I'm a bit paranoid, and so advise be careful about timing your comp. Around the time we comped last Dec. there were people posting here on NW who were upset because their comps were only through Feb. 03. Try search.
November is possibly safe. Earlier, I wouldn't trust it.
But if NW's routes work for you, go for it. We are VERY happy DL refugees.

I know of comps to NW Gold from DL as early as Sept. that in response to a polite letter to extend for the next FF year, and showing 25K miles on NW in the Sept./Dec. timeframe, received the next FF year at Gold.

What's the chances of NW comping now that Delta is a partner?

Good point, sergio. It's my understanding that airlines generally do not comp from partners, only competitors. Of course, DL/NW/CO are still in competition in many ways so I'm not sure what would happen in this case. Anyone had any experience with this since Delta/NW/CO announced? If someone tries it as a result of reading this thread, please let us know the result.

Thanks GG, I was just going to post that.
I'm the guy who just comped on NW through Feb 2004. I do plan to fly enough to at leats earn silver before December, and then beg for another goodwill comp.
