does NW automatically upgrade platinum
With my name, I know I should fly CO, but NW also works. Upgrade question. If there are multiple passengers linked to a platinum's ticket, does NW automatically upgrade the platinum (if seats are available)? I know CO does not, but am not sure about NW.

This is one of the problems with companion fares that require both people to be on the same itinerary. Under other circumstances it makes sense to have the record split.

You should always split your record if it is with non-elite pax. If you don't (see post above) the upgrade will not go thru.
Good Luck!

I flew on tickets in past couple of months that were apparently "companion" tickets...records couldn't be split until arrived at airport on day of flight.
Only split your reservation if you are comfortable having one person in f and rest in back...some people don't like being separated while flying...and if you are like me, my wife would be sitting up front, while I as plat. would be in back!
