Why was this thread locked?
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum35/HTML/006116.html
The thread was about NW and didn't seem to contain any violations of FT's terms. I would have posted a reply saying that I have actually had my luggage opened and hand-searched by NW personnel (as opposed to TSA) on one occasion, but I couldn't because the thread was locked.

Had to check in at MSP yesterday and the TSA is doing a solid job there as well as at other airports. As a frequent transatlantic flyer you have to give them some credit, it has become less stressful these days to go through security at many places...

Actually, in the previous thread the original poster was trying to say (but it was hard to comprehend) that a customs agent at DTW searched and tamper-sealed his friends mothers luggage. Then he said:
NW has absolutely nothing to do with customs agents at DTW; his friends mother could have arrived on an LH, BA, etc. flight and had the same experience. The thread belongs in the DTW forum in FlyerTalk airports as it has nothing to do with NW. However, I also feel that its ridiculous to complain about customs agents searching your luggage. You returned home from a foreign country who knows what your binging home?!
"I always fly AA but over the weekend I flew NW from Jamaica... when I arrived in Detroit, dogs sniffed my luggage and then NW confiscated my pot and threw me in jail! What incredibly poor service Next time, use FedEx.
- - -
In response to your situation, was it recent? The TSA is now in charge of searching all baggage, but NW has done the task in the past.

I still think it was inappropriate to close that thread. We could at least get an explanation of the reason when a thread is closed.

I once flew to Amsterdam on NW and had some really strong pot in a coffee shop which made me fall over and injure myself. I will not fly NW again if this is how they are going to treat me!

The reason that I locked the original thread was that this topic did not belong on the Northwest Board.
The topic and the original posting could have been posted on many of the other FT boards. Examples are:
Detroit airport Board

The Topic "They locked her luggage with other people's lock!" implies that Northwest locked the poster's mother's luggage and the original post by UA vs NW (see part of post below)
"It took us about fifteen minutes to break the made-in-china lock. But I am sure that the bad impression about NW's service at DTW will not easily be removed from her head even if I explained to her that this is a very very rare case."
-------------------------------------------
The above statement by UA vs NW (the original poster) is misleading to anyone reading this topic.
Northwest had no involvement in custom screening or searching the luggage or puttng a lock on this suitcase and they should not be blamed or have blame implied.
I closed this thread because it was misleading, not on subject for the Northwest board, and I would not hesitate to close it again if something similiar is posted in the future.

Thank you for all your efforts as a moderator, and also for taking the time to explain this to those who may not fully understand the FlyerTalk Guidelines and Rules.

Dear folks,
Sorry for the misleading topic I posted a few days ago. At that moment, I didn't recognize that issue has nothing to do with NW, but was overwhelmed by my friend's mother's complaining about "Northworst". After getting feedbacks from this board, I have explained to her that this has nothing to do with NW but the TSA or customers staff. She is leaving tomorrow and I do hope she can feel something good about red tail in her trip back to Paris.
This is also a good lesson for me---think carefully before doing something. I will keep this in mind.
Again, thanks a lot for everybody who helps point out my mistake.
