Actually, in the previous thread the original poster was trying to say (but it was hard to comprehend) that a
customs agent at DTW searched and tamper-sealed his friend’s mother’s luggage. Then he said:
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">But I am sure that the bad impression about NW's service at DTW…</font>
NW has absolutely nothing to do with customs agents at DTW; his friend’s mother could have arrived on an LH, BA, etc. flight and had the same experience. The thread belongs in the DTW forum in FlyerTalk airports as it has
nothing to do with NW. However, I also feel that it’s ridiculous to complain about customs agents searching your luggage. You returned home from a foreign country – who knows what your binging home?!
"I always fly AA but over the weekend I flew NW from Jamaica... when I arrived in Detroit, dogs sniffed my luggage and then NW confiscated my pot and threw me in jail! What incredibly poor service” Next time, use FedEx.

In response to your situation, was it recent? The TSA is now in charge of searching all baggage, but NW has done the task in the past.
