SARS rebooking
Just an FYI: many of you have helped out with suggestions on rebooking a pair of tickets that was heading into Asia in two weeks.
Initially WP had said that I could change the ticket to any city pair, but wouldn't get an MCO for the fare difference, also they wanted to charge me for redepositing my miles that I had used to upgrade to WBC.
Today they reversed themselves and allowed me to rebook my DTW-TPE RT as DTW-MCO RT with slightly different dates, and are issuing MCOs for the >$700 fare difference AND didn't charge me to redeposit the miles.
Although it took about 1 hr on the phone for the CSR to get a supervisor to sign off, she did it readiliy (although oddly enough she said that if the MCO was going to be <$100 the supervisor told her not to issue it)
At any rate. Count me satisfied. A quick trip to MCO for the weekend, and then a longer trip to HNL later on in the winter for me!

Thanks

so they're issuing vouchers for the remainder of the fare if it's lower? I thought they were not, even though united and delta is doing this. good news for me if true.

I didn't do anything special, beyond calling and talking to a couple of different CSRs (I'm a silver, so I think it just dumps over the main WP line) over the past two weeks or so, until I found someone who said they would give me a MCO if my fare was lower (and I smartly remembered to write it down, which helped I think, since she was able to see that I had called about my record on that day-- I wonder if it got documented)
As far as the baseline policy, she used the war loophole to waive the fees, then got a supervisor to allow the issue of the MCO, which are apparently in the mail.
I think it also helped that I explained that the CDC is advising restricted travel to these countries (PEK would certainly qualify).
I hope this helps. Oh, one last thing, I called at around 10AM Eastern on the day I initially posted, to maximize my chances of finding a supervisor to intervene if necessary.

Thanks. My conference was just canceled because the international attendees weren't going to be attending. I just hope I can get the WBC tickets when the conference is rescheduled later this year....
