status miles when bumped
Today I took a voluntary bump. My original itin was MKE-MEM-MSP-BOS. When I got to MEM the flight from MEM-MSP was oversold by 15 people so I took the bump got the TCV and got on the direct flight to BOS from MEM. Since I took a voluntary bump is it possible to get the original routing worldperks miles? It may be unethical to try to get the miles since I voluntarily got bumped, but will NW honor the original routing if I call them.

There is a form to fill out for a reroute -- you list your original flights and submit. It usually works. Ask at any ticket counter -- they have told me that it HAS to be on the written form, not via phone or email.

I have in the past called the worldperks service center and the agent put in my original routing milage. I've done this a couple of times when I missed connections due to a mechanical problem. They didn't say I had to fill out some form and send it in. However, this is different because this wasn't from a mechanical problem. Is that why your saying I need to fill out this form?

scklumb,
Call WorldPerks and find out... it never hurts to try! Although I've never tried to claim mileage from a bump, I've claimed mileage from when NW has routed me to another carrier. However, recently NW has told me they've discontiuned this courtesy and will only credit me actual miles flown. So I'd have to say no to you, but it won't hurt to try!

The fact that you "took the bump" is no reason you should not receive the miles from your original routing. The compensation you received for not getting on the plane was for "helping Northwest out of a jam".
Call Worldperks and simply say that you were rerouted and would like credit for the original itinerary. If you don't receive the answer you like, wait a minute and make the same request to a different agent. It's the flyertalk way.

I was involuntarely rerouted from MSP-IAH-LAS to MSP-LAS direct. I told the CO GA agent that I wanted the original routing credit. She noted it in my PNR (ticketed on CO). Should I call CO or NW to claim original routing miles? I need the miles for my NW status. nwa.com shows the MSP-LAS flight as PIP.
I took a voluntary reroute a couple of months ago and submitted a fax a couple weeks ago for the original miles routing. Will update this note to let you know if that one comes thru.
