Already being a NW Gold through Feb 2002, this offer does not do me any good, but thanks for posting the information here.
I'm sure there are some folks who can benefit from this one. Just don't qualify as an Elite flyer through MSP...I need those first class seats!!!

This could be nice... I wish I knew about it before my last few trips on NW, with my miles/status being credited towards Alaska Air's Mileage Plan.

jimmyjames is right. This was a targeted promo. It says clearly that the "trial guest silver status is non-transferable and non requestable ".
That means - someone who got the offer can't transfer it to you (via a promo code or something). And if you didn't get the offer, you can't call in and request it.

You might want to call the WorldPerks Center. Often times, this will send you the necessary mailer just for asking. Never hurts to ask!

The only problem with the Fast Track Elite promo is that it expires 2/28. My trip to PEK is March 11th. Does anyone have a similar promo that is vaild during the month of March???

I was the original poster of this question, so I thought I would let you know what I have found out. This promo is targeted, and cannot be requested. I think it originates from Hilton, as my friend that actually received this offer about two months ago rarely flies and was signed up for the original gold challenge. I believe certain fare classes are also excluded.
