Does NW WorldPerks Visa accept enrollment for people residing in areas with an APO military address? This is a US address

MJW- Noting that you were in attendance at the Freddies, I'd tried to introduce myself and say hello. Yet it seemed that you and Rick made a rather hasty exit! Regards to both of you. Your presence on the board is very much appreciated and you are missed. Hope all is well.

I'm glad to see some people posting positive comments. It's really easy to be negative and bash a company without ever saying anything positive. I'd like to add my $.02 regarding another thing I had never seen on a NWA flight. I was flying from MEM to MSY (or was it GRR to MEM) on January 4th and the FA took the time to personally shake everybodys hand in first class and thank us for our business. In my 2nd year of Platinum I had never seen this, is this some sort of new policy, or the act of a *renagade* FA? I was shocked at first, but later on after thinking about it, was impressed. I'm sorry I can't remember his name, but it really was an impressive gestures.
- Kurt ps. By the way MJW, love the GRR-MEM direct flights. You have no idea how much that helps us here in GRR |
Even though I don't fly for business and only fly 4 - 5 times per year for pleasure, I have had very good luck with NW and get tired of hearing about 'Northworst.' I fly out of GRR and frequently use the services of Northwest, because they are most readily available.
Since miles are a precious commodity for me, I would never think of spending them to upgrade a flight. I think it's terrific that I can fly 'free' every once in a while. I just returned from a 'free' pleasure trip in Hawaii and had a wonderful experience flying home on NW. Since my sister and I didn't have seat assignments (because they had weight listed us to a better flight only a few weeks prior) and we asked to sit together, we had to wait until the last minute to find out where are seats would be for the 7 hour flight to Minn. When the gate agent called our names, she smiled and said we would "love our seats." And she was right! They were in first class. What a treat for a long ride home. And because the air conditioner was dripping consendation on us for a few minutes before take off, they gave us certificates for 1000 frequent flyer miles. Like I said, I think Northwest is really trying to do a good job, and I plan to keep flying with them. But I really think that a key to receiving good service is when you are friendly and courteous yourself. When I smile and say thanks for everything they do for me in the air, they smile right back, and give me even better service. To the Northwest rep: Thanks for a wonderful flight on Thursday! What a terrific way to end a wonderful vacation. Keep up the good work. ------------------ |

WoW!!! Two Grand Rapids posters in a row!! Welcome both of you http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif. Glad to have you on board.
I fly Grr, Lan and Azo, depending which is the most reasonable and the direction I'm going. Northwest has been consistently reliable. These "smaller" airports are a joy to fly in and out of compared to Detroit. |
I have been flying for the past 10 years and decided about 18 months ago to make the best attempt and stick with one airline. Since NWA has over 33% of the GRR market, I chose them. Since then I am now in the Silver program and enjoy it very much working towards gold. It's funny, I just found this sight and noticed 3-4 early references to GRR. Makes me feel at home already. Sure I have had the NWA flight adventures (6 flights in one day for a trip in vain, etc.), but sometimes I just deal with it. I do have to say, that there is a lady who works the front counter at NWA GRR who is absolutely wonderful. Pretty sure she is a supervisor (wears a black button sweater vs. all the other employees in regular red sweater). Maybe her name is Jean? Anyway, the nicest, most accommodating person I have worked with at NWA. Please get more people like her!!

Just had to say hi to my fellow GRR flyers! I too have had good luck with Northwest out of GRR even on those snowy and icy days we get here. :-( I find it helpful to be a little flexible on those bad weather days, and being inquisitive about the weather at the connecting city. DTW and MSP can both be bad weather wise. With the addition of Memphis there are usually other choices and one can avoid the connecting city with the bad weather. NW agents have been quite accomodating in changing me through another hub and I think I have avoided quite a few weather ralated problems that way! Thanks again to MJW for being here as our liason, your doing a great job! :-)

Greetings from another GRR traveler. I have been having great success flying NW for the last 18 months, so I was due for a rough encounter last week flying out of LGA. The weather was terrible and I was delayed 27 hours trying to get back to Grand Rapids. I had my rebooked 12:40 PM departure on Wednesday, the 26th cancelled, and was rebooked on the 7:55 PM departure. I decided to try stand-by as flights out of LGA came up.
I encountered a gate agent, Armand, who was one of the best I have come across. He was a total professional not only with me but with several older people in line ahead of me trying to get on the 7:30 AM delayed departure. He not only got me on the flight, he helped me use my Platinum status to upgrade to FC. The second part of the saga was I gave him one of my several boarding passes(from cancelled flights)after he came on the plane to get it ready for departure. I asked him to try to get me on the stand-by list for an earlier DTW to GRR flight. When I arrived in Detroit, I found out once again that he had gone above and beyond--I was up in FC and I arrived home six hours earlier than my original rebooking! My thanks to Armand--he is one of the reasons I am so loyal to Northwest Airlines! |
GRR Flyers!! We Rule!
Anyway..off to PBI for the weekend. That's keeping with the average now of one flight every nine days. Yikes! And all with NWA. Did anyone see one of the top news stories today that American is increasing their leg room from 31 inches to 34-36 inches! Good news for the taller travelers! |
Wow, maybe we need to start a GRR/NWA topic on the board with all these GRR travelers.
I'm glad to see someone else make some posts about the NWA staff at GRR. I've always had excellent service by the GRR staff. The one guy who's usually in the first class check-in counter has always been wonderful to deal with, even when I've had problems or changes. By the way - I imagine that adding another bank of MEM flights will mean one additional GRR-MEM flight. Anybody know? |

I imagine that adding another bank of MEM flights will mean one additional GRR-MEM flight. The latter flight will now operate one hour later (710p rather than the current 610p). Also, you will only have one Mesaba flight from MEM to GRR (NW 3516), which will now depart at 900p rather than the current 820p. The earlier Mesaba flight you now have (NW 3490, second flight bank) has been replaced by NW 1238 (D9S, first flight bank). [This message has been edited by Carl (edited 02-09-2000).] |
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Rats - too bad about still only 2 GRR-MEM flights. How about another MEM question. Does this expansion mean they are going to either expand the MEM world club or hopefully build another one?
Every time I'm in there it's packed. Would be nice to have a "Concourse C" style world club in MEM. |
They will be opening a new "state-of-the-art" WorldClub in Oct as part of their previously announced $400M MEM expansion project (of which NW is contributing $203.5M).
