NW codeshare on 9W from BRU?

Now that NW is starting DTW-BRU, and 9W is gearing up for BRU-India, will NW/9W code share on DTW-India through BRU? If so, could that mean increased flights to BRU?

I think NW's market to India will be interesting to watch.

They have announced a codeshare with Kingfisher, and with the 787's coming online I'm sure we will see some direct DTW-India flights.

That is a very interesting idea! I would be interested to know the regulatory aspects of codesharing with 9W at BRU prior to the adoption of open skies with the EU.

Doubtful. You currently can not earn WorldPerks miles for any of 9W's International routes, and with the addition of Kingfisher (a competitor to Jet Airways?) to WorldPerks, it's hard to tell the likelihood of Jet Airways strengthening the relationship with Northwest Airlines.

At least, that's my take on things.

This is true, but KLM and NW operate as one airline across the atlantic, this means that DTW-BRU will be a KLM flight (more than just a codeshare with NW). KLM allows their customers to earn miles on ALL 9W flights. If KLM were to codeshare with 9W from BRU, then you could fly KLM from DTW-India through BRU, which would essentially be the equivalent of flying NW.

I'm not sure, but I seem to recall that NW and KLM operate as one airline on flights to India as well. Certainly, when you check in in Delhi, even though it is a KLM operated flight, all of the signs say Northwest KLM (to a much higher degree than the NW KLM signs in the United States or AMS).

I would like to see a closer partnership with 9W. It would add a nice mileage redemption partner to fly in their first class.
