This is true, but KLM and NW operate as one airline across the atlantic, this means that DTW-BRU will be a KLM flight (more than just a codeshare with NW). KLM allows their customers to earn miles on ALL 9W flights. If KLM were to codeshare with 9W from BRU, then you could fly KLM from DTW-India through BRU, which would essentially be the equivalent of flying NW.
I'm not sure, but I seem to recall that NW and KLM operate as one airline on flights to India as well. Certainly, when you check in in Delhi, even though it is a KLM operated flight, all of the signs say Northwest KLM (to a much higher degree than the NW KLM signs in the United States or AMS).
I would like to see a closer partnership with 9W. It would add a nice mileage redemption partner to fly in their first class.
