Double eqms

Any chance northwest will repeat the double eqm promotion from last fall? How might CHAOS impact managment's thinking on this?

I am sure they will do some large promo if they start to lose customers. If there are any NWA lurkers here, lets go with double EQS this year. That is my only chance of hitting plat (outside of doing 3 or 4 segment runs, which I don't have time or money for).

Last year's Double EQM deal was in response to a UA deal trying to steal NW customers. It was initiated 1 day after UA announced their promo. I seriously doubt they'll do it again. Wishful thinking though!!

from my high horse, i'm going to hope that no double eqm or eqs offering is made to dilute the elite pool

earlier this year as a silver, i would have been all over it however

I am sorry, guys. I hope they don't do the double EQMs until January. We all, including my wife and kids made plat in April.

Other than getting you to a MM tier faster, what's the value of additional EQM's to a plat?

(Not being sarcastic, actually looking to learn your reasoning)

I'm hoping they do as well. This current FA issue makes it the 2nd time this year I intentially flew other airlines to ensure travel wouldn't be a problem. As it stands, I'll only have about 65,000 EQM's and will be stuck doing a MR to get back to Plat. Without these 2 hiccups, I would have been about 80,000. In my selfesh mind, it's the least they can do for me.

I would be happy if they give choice between double EQMs or applying EQMs for the 2007 qualifying year.

I'll be depressed since I've already bought enough tickets to reach our goals for this year, and most of the domestic runs are on DL. Then again, in a fit of temporary insanity, I might figure my wife should be a Plat, too.

Seriously, I don't see this happening unless bookings are way down or (the reason it happened last year) as a response to a competitor. Traditionally, NW has been very tight with EQM -- their elite levels are a reward for people who fly.

They'd be foolish to do anything before the labor situation settled. Once it did, they'll need to jumpstart bookings again (this type of promotion also helps get the word out that all is well).

Especially now that we're starting to see fares fall slightly, if you add in the upcoming slow season with the labor issues, NW may have a lot of empty seats on its hands come fall. I wouldn't really be surprised to see a promotion of some sort.

The way UA handled this back in the Summer From Hell (2000) was lower the Premier thresholds (same concept as bonus EQM), but also threw a bonus in miles at people who qualified legitimately under the old scheme.

Double EQMs, Double miles, bonuses, "Fly-for-Free" promos...

Lots of options for NW to look good to FTers.

However, if they continue to fly full planes what would be the point of promos. I suspect that if things get bad for them we will see some promos. Otherwise, little will come our way.

Right now, I'm on track for PL by the end of the year so double EQMs mean little for me except for the extra WPMs.

It would be nice!

I have 60k in the bank of EQM's, a 10k trip on the books for Oct., plus a trip for Turkeyday. So it looks good for plat. & me.

I will say that (sorry NWA) all this mess has caused me to book away on AA where I'll hit Plat. in a few weeks My last trip the FA was fantastic. my wife asked if she was new (just kidding a bit) & she was a 20 year NW FA.

I really hope things get worked out as I miss the red-tail :-: ^

The double EQM would be nice for Mrs. Wingtip to hit gold a little easier

my 2 cents.......

The EQMs are not that big a deal, but the miles are. I average 20 k a month. 10 - 15 k on NW. Double miles adds up quick.
