A year and a half ago my husband and I adopted our daughter from Ukraine. We flew from Flint, Mi to Kiev, Ukraine with the help of klm. The travel agent who boked us said that he had signed us up for the frequent flyer program, and we would recieve miles for our round trip flight for 2. Well, I never recieved any information on it, I never thought about it I just figured it was in northwests "system". In the bliss of being a new mom to a very busy 15 month old who has time to think about miles programs? Well anyways, we are finally going on a family vacation, a cruise... We need to fly from flint, mi to either miami or ft. lauderdale. Anxious to use my miles NWA, says we are not in their "system" and we need to contact our travel agent. I did, and he said "I am sure I signed you up, I will look into it..." I keep trying to contact him, and he will not return phone calls or emails. Even though I have my reciepts NWA says because it has been over six months there is no way they can help us. So I am asking all of you experienced travelers out there if anyone knows of any way around this rule? I haven't even been able to get through to a supervisor or anything. The agent just says "no" and thats that. Michigan to ukraine is quite a few miles to loose! I am kind of desperate, because we will be paying for 3 adults and a 3 year old. So far I am coming up with about 1350 or so for all 4 round trip, low as 1178 on air tran though. I still have my reciepts, so why can't I have my miles??????

Do you have your boarding passes? if you do and if you were signed up for FF
your number should be on it.
if not, sign up online and send in the boarding passes for the credits.
It may be possible that your TA signed you up for the KLM FF.

If you're trying to get to South Florida, there was an awesome DTW-FLL $118 r/t fare, but it's gone now. There's some $218.60 availability in July, but after that it's ugly. $318.60 through Nov, and some $258 in Dec. If you can wait, the summer isn't over yet, and I suspect all airlines will be struggling to fill the seats to FL (and summer fare specials sometimes stretch into Dec, such as the $118 fare). If all else fails, time to hit eBay for some PK036 coupons...
As per the milage... the rules are the rules, I hope you get the milage, but NW is pretty firm about the 6 month rule.

Keep in mind, even if you were able to get the miles awarded from the Kiev flights, they would be credited to separate accounts for each traveller. FNT-KBP is ~10k miles RT, which wouldn't be enough to get a ticket to FLL/MIA even if you combined them and managed to find a PerkSaver award. I think you're better off focusing your efforts on finding a better fare.
If you can provide us with approximate dates of your trip, I'm sure the collective wisdom here can provide help to get you on your way for a reasonable amount.

Boarding passes are the key here. ALWAYS save them. If you've got them, you can send them in to NWA (keep clear copies for yourself) and get credit for the flights.
