MH's miles classes
i was looking at malaysia's web and saw various fares from EWR-BOM ranging from 1080-1800+ and noticed that none of them earn miles. Is this a mistake or is malaysia generally very stingy with miles? I mean I can understand that a 1080 fare may not earn miles but why can't 1800 earn when SQ offers miles at that fare? what is the point of having a FF if nothing earns miles???

The only fare classes not eligible to earn miles on WorldPerks are G, L and V fares.
Are these the fare types you're seeing from your search? Otherwise, why do you say they don't earn miles?

There were many fares offered for the same routing and underneath each there was a link "fare rules" all of which said no Enrich miles could be earned.

Is the OP talking about NW miles or MH miles?

Yeah but the fare rule specifically said that no Enrich miles could be earned. SQ has many published fares that don't earn miles, CX has some published fares that earn miles only on their program. i couldn't find any info on what specific booking class they were. but the shocking thing is that even at $1862 no miles would be awarded.

Yes I guess NW can earn miles but I still find it difficult to believe that Enrich members can't earn even with an 1800 fare (booking classs: Y - which if I am right is full fare economy, am I?)
Have you not come across many posts of people complaining about how poor MH's Enrich program is?
Typically Asian airline-based FFPs are very stingy with mileage earning opportunities. As you can tell from the discussions above, some fare classes don't even allow their own FF members earn miles, whereas a WP member can earn full mileage.

Why do they even have a FF program if they can't give miles for full-fare economy (Y)????one trip like that almost gives a free domestic award ticket.

Did you actually see in the "fine prints" it's a mileage ineligible Y fare? I must say that's a bit surprising.

Yup, the booking class was Y and when i clicked on the link "fare rules" it said no enrich miles accruable. I seriosly hope that's a mistake. 1800 and no miles!!!
