NRT Typhoon Now?????
Well, I am in the club at JFK awaiting my 1:45 to NRT and then onward to BKK. I am on one of the last M fare upgrades.
Does anyone know if the Typhoon is that severe and what the chance is of leaving at 3:30, and the chance of making the BKK connection?
I checked and most other NW NRT flights are also delayed about 2 hours so I assume that one of those planes could be my onward flight to BKK. I hope.
BTW, I checked, and the CO flight from EWR to NRT left on time at 11:10 AM. I guess they are too stupid to know they are flying into a typhoon
The day started out bad when I tried to take a train from Princeton Junction to NYC and the a train on to JFK. My wife drove me to the train station and we found hordes of people standing around. Apparently a transformer blew and there are no NJ Transit trains. Bad day.
Edited to add: Does anyone know where the aircraft for NRT-BKK originates?

FWIW, I think the plane originates in SFO. I'm fairly sure since it's sold as a 1-stop from SFO-BKK.

Thanks, civicmon. NWA.COM shows this delayed about a 1/2 hour as well. So, give our positions on oposite coasts, it give me hope of makeing the BKK connection.

Unlike DTW, miss a connection and they'll let you standby on the next flight, at NRT they don't have that luxury...

On Asia flights you used to be able to upgrade M fares. Alas, no more.
That's why the OP said "one of the last upgraded M fares". He must have bought it and got the u/g before new WP rules went into effect.

I do not think the plane to BKK originates from SFO. I flew SFO-NRT-BKK on September 14. We landed at NRT at gate 25 and departed from gate 26. I have taken this flight more than 40 times in the past 3 or 4 years and I do not remember ever departing to BKK from the same gate we arrived at in Tokyo. On the other hand, my return flight on September 22 was the same aircraft from BKK to SFO - with a crew change in NRT.

LAX-PUS is sold as a 1-stop but the plane changes to a 757 for NRT-PUS (and it makes me wonder why NW holds a valuable landing slot at NRT for that lame flight that KE can codeshare with...)

Alls well that ends well. We finally got in at 6:35 PM and found that NW was holding all connections (at least that is what they said, but I saw one guy in the lounge really upset he missed his MSP flight). Anyhow, my 7 PM to BKK is now 9:25PM I can only imagine what time I will get into BKK, but at least I will get there.
The ride in was quite bumpy, but the weather was not too bad. Apparently, the really bad typhoon weather has moved on.
