ha. hahahaha... I don't know why they even bother with that stupid movable partition. the seats are the same 3x3 except on I think the 737-800 where they are 2x3 and slightly wider.

The OP is asking about preferred/select seating (not Europe Select, which is KLM's idea of short haul business class) within Europe, not transatlantic.

As pointed out by NickB, there is no pre-assigned seating in coach on KLM shorthaul. However, elites do get automatically assigned at the front of the coach cabin.

One way to get the best seats is to check which 737 version is flying that day (info is available here about 1 day in advance), look up the KLM seatmaps, and either do a telephone or internet check-in a day in advance.

The 739 is the only one with a few rows of 2-3 seats, but they are nowadays almost always in front of the curtain.

On all other 737 versions, the greyed area of 3-3 seats supposedly has an extra 2" of legroom, but seats are the same. The 738 and 733 have some nice exit row seats, but the 734 does not.

No need to sweat on the Fokkers, all seats are the same.

confirmed

KLM confirmed that my transatlantic seat assignments made by NWA agents are valid. So if you're flying KLM metal and NWA agent is confused, tell them to book in KLM system.

They also confirmed (as others here already have) no assignments possible within Europe.

Funny thing they had my gf listed for "Low-sodium" meal. I didn't ask for that during booking and it's not in her profile anywhere...

I was checking the 737 seat maps, and it appears that rows 11 & 12 on the 734 are exit rows with extra legroom. Is the .PDF at KLM incorrect or am I perhaps interpreting the schematic incorrectly?

No, you are not. These emergency exit rows do have more legroom, but only an inch or two. Note that seats in row 11 can not be reclined.

I booked an upcoming trip in WBC via NW on nwa.com with some KL segments including a trans atlantic and two inter europe flights. During the on-line booking I was able to pick KL seats that show up as being confirmed in my reservations. However, during the on-line purchase, I was not able to grab any of the premimum seats (e.g. 77A/B upstairs) only non premimum WBC seats across the pond. I was able to pick any of the non blocked seats on the KL 73x flights. Unlike NW flts, you can not go back and change the KL based flts to choose premimum seats and talking with the NW Elite folks they can not grab them either.

Does anyone have experience of being able to call KL and have them release or assign prem seats on KL metal with a NW reservation?
