btw, if anyone is flying msp - lax tomorrow afternoon, let me know!
FYI..Internet checkin will always ask if you want to be upgraded...even if you've already cleared...the way response will tell you exactly what happened...

something like these:

You've already been upgraded to FC (EUA did it's job)
You have been successfully upgraded to FC (Internet Ckin did the upgrade)
FC is not available but you have been added to the waitlist

Or the rare, but dreaded...

FC is not available and the airport standby list is full. Haven't seen that in a while, but remember someone saying that they only made the advance waitlist the size of the total # of FC seats on the flight (or something like that).

That's correct, and it's listed in the WorldPerks guide. They only allow x number of standby's on the FC waitlist equal to the number of seats in FC.

Co Tkt All Nw Metal, R Available - No Platinum Upgrade!

5 days out (Platinum Window) and no upgrade. Called, no help, no attempt to discover why there is a problem with EUA. Plenty of P and F (forget actual numbers, but P9 and high enough F, I would have expected the upgrade). Today, 3 days prior to my return, the Platinum desk confirms R space is available on the return, but must wait for EUA. I indicated there has been a problem with this reservation all along, and I have seen F/C space dwindle to 2 seats on each of the outbound segments. I asked for a supervisor, and she politely agreed there was a problem with EUA and would forward my record locator to the IT Help desk for inspection. I called CO (bought on CO.COM, but no problems ever before) they indicated the record was out of synch (bought the tkt months ago, numerous flight number and minute time changes). They synchronized it. I also told them my VIEW RECEIPT on CO.COM usually shows my WP number, as does this receipt, but ALSO indicates PLATINUM. PLATINUM was not showing up. Anyway, I hope this EUA gets straightened out. I'm particularly unhappy about the MSP-SNA in coach class. I tried to point out these peculiarities to the super so she could annotate the info to the IT help desk.

So please tell me, what exactly does a Silver look like? Funny, they all look the same to me. Can you really tell the difference between someone who flies 45,000 miles/yr for 20 years versus someone who flies 77,000 miles their first year of work?

Didn't think so.

Well, actually, you can!

The first-year, 77,000 Plat member looks pretty refreshed and dynamic. The poor sod who has spent 20 years flying between 25,000 and 49,999 per year would look kinda like me, only worse.

Much worse!!! Imagine an old, sway-backed, flea-bitten, broken-down horse with rheumy eyes and too many brands on his backside..

(I only have about 10 years FF'ing, and not all of that in silver...and I am already really tired)
