I quickly scanned the Rewards Network list, and the establishments below leap out. It really depends on what your friends like.
AKA-- great cheap eats; hard to spend $150 unless the alcohol bill is hefty
Candela -- if they're into bondage
Central Park Boathouse -- hard-to-beat ambiance
Dominic -- a top choice
Duane Park -- another top choice
Essex -- LES hipster
Fleur de Sel -- reliable Flat Iron District French
Les Halles (John St.) -- Wall St. outpost of the well-known Park Av South joint
Madison Bistro -- sleeper, quite good, though perhaps not appropriate for a special occasion
Marion’s Continental -- East Village hipster, fun
Meet -- meat-packing district scene
Patroon -- perhaps the best choice
Provence -- reliable West Village, garden
Schiller’s Liquor Bar -- LES scene
Union Pacific -- another top choice
Without knowing anything about your friends, I'd recommend Patroon or Union Pacific as the safe choices, with Duane Park and Central Park Boathouse as dark-horse choices.
