JFK airport hotel close to Jamaica Rail station

I am travelling in a few months to New York for a short 2 day stay.
I arrive at JFK day 1 at 2125 hrs and
depart JFK
day 3 at 1830 hrs.
I am thinking about taking a free shuttle to an airport hotel walking distance to Jamaica rail station,
spending the first day in the city and come back to the hotel by train
next day , I have an appointment at 1000 hrs in the city .
Can you please suggest a hotel that would fit in with these criteria .

There is a Holiday Inn Express a few blocks from the Jamaica AirTrain station, but I do not believe that the hotel offers a free shuttle to or from the airport.

There's also a Hyatt Regency at the Resorts World Casino, a short distance from JFK. It gets decent reviews; but it too has no free shuttle to the airport, and it's not close to Jamaica Station (but it is close to a subway station).

Frankly, though, I'm not sure why you wouldn't just take a 20-minute ride on the Long Island Rail Road from Jamaica to either Penn Station or Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, and find a suitable hotel in Manhattan.

2 days in the city? Why not stay in the city like guv1976 suggests? Gives you many more options for food and exploration

Given the arrival and departure rimes, I might split the difference and target Long Island City hotels. They are usually cheaper than Manhattan, yet very close via E or 7 lines for quick access into town. Maybe have the hotel store the bag on the last day and get a few activities in before returning to pick up bags and take E subway to Jamaica and AirTrain.

I just hate to overpay for a Manhattan hotel night when I arrive extremely late.

Hyatt Regency at the Resorts World Casino subway stop is only in one direction towards Manhattan Aqueduct Racetrack. From Manhattan, you would have to get off at North Conduit and walk or wait for the Resorts shuttle bus, exit from the rear of the southbound train.

Hi,
A friend suggested the following - its rates seem ok - not open yet
Seems a very short walk to subway and airtrain - hotel website says 300 metres
Any thoughts about safety in this area .

Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Queens/Jamaica

146 -18 Archer Av Jamaica .

I would be more concerned about the high likelihood of a delayed opening date. Hotels are notorious for delayed openings.

It’s a rough area. Not necessarily unsafe but just dodgy.

I’d take the LIRR to Grand Central and stay at the Yale Club or Harvard Club, which are really close and less expensive than other hotels.

If your friend is suggesting an unopened hotel in Jamaica instead of echoing the advice of other posters here, may I suggest re-evaluating that friend

Thank you - my friend was suggesting the location because it was so close to LIRR and AirTrain - I take your point - thank you!

Are the overnight guest rooms at the Harvard and Yale clubs offered to those who are not members of those clubs or affiliated clubs?

Thank you for all your advice.
I decided to try for a Hotel close JFK and came across the TWA at $ 269 per night plus taxes .
I'm planning to use Airtrain/LIRR to get to from Manhattan.
I'll let you know how it goes .

Wow, that's a great rate there - when??
Was looking for a friend recently in October (so not peak season) and they wanted $500++ (although the other hotels in the area were $300-400++).

Still think you'd be better off staying in Manhattan (or LI City) so you don't have to schlep back and forth.
