NYC Restaurant Week - Jan 24 to Feb 6, 2011

Make your reservations now. NYC Restaurant Week is from Jan 24 to Feb 6th. Special menus, lunch is $24.07 and dinner $35.00 at participating restaurants.
Check first at the restaurant since many of the participating restaurants often already have a prix fixe deal that is in that price range. http://www.nycgo.com/restaurantweek/

Restaurant Week sucks (IMHO, of course!).

I'm surprised to see L'Ecole on the list, given that the place is so cheap to begin with ($42 for a 4/5 course meal).

They appear to be one of the few places running their standard menu (as opposed to the usual dumbed-down Restaurant Week offering).

I think a lot of restaurants feel pressured to participate, because they don't want to be left out of the marketing blitz, even if they don't want to and even if it doesn't make sense for them to.

There are a couple of places where the choices are from the regular menu and you save a couple of bucks, but in most cases you are getting fish sticks at a restaurant that is known for lobster.

It's also Broadway week for the first time, with many shows offering two for one tickets.

Maybe at the places you go to.

I booked 2 reservations and will tell you where after the promo is over.

I can't imagine why anyone would go to a less expensive place, when you can go to a top restaurant (expensive) and really get good value.

Why go to a $40 place when you can eat at a hundred dollar place.

It can't be that good if you're embarrassed to say where it is. That's all right. You can keep it to yourself.

Outrageous menu pricing has nothing to do with the quality of one's meal.

Agreed, of course. When we ate at Megu and David Burke Townhouse last time, we found the food and the experience to be all that it's cracked up to be.
Plenty of good pickins right now if you book quickly.

Do you have a link for their respective restaurant week dinner menus?

You must be a serious foodie. I'll check with you prior to booking.

Wow. I've never been called a foodie before.

Regardless, the RW menu is a shell of the normal one. You're not getting a $100 meal for $35; you're getting what you pay for.
