Nice! How much of an upcharge was it, and was that negotiable?

ES: nothingPS: GLA 250
Ended up taking a 2020 Ford Explorer Limited from the Alamo side....the car wasn't properly cleaned though, there was like sticky stuff by the shift knob area....yuck

No more EA/ES/PS due to lack of volume/staff according to the sole rental agent. Booked fullsize and was given a very new base Volkswagen Passat with no alternatives.
Looking around the lot, I saw a Mazda CX-5, Kia Forte, Volvo XC90, Dodge Grand Caravan,Chevrolet Sonic, and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.
The lot was quite empty. The Hertz lot was very full with lots of Durangos and Q50s.

I would suggest you to book a back up rsvn if you want anything specific.
I had a rental back in Oct last year and was told the Emerald aisle was closed.
I got a choice between a base trim compact Kia SUV or a camry.
Based on the recent google reviews it seems like the aisle is still closed.

Arriving Sunday, June 20 11AM for a 9 day rental. Am EE at National, have back-up reservations at Hertz (PC) and Avis (no status). Would like an SUV, as we'll have a backseat passenger but not too worried about the specifics beyond that.
The above picture gives me hope that fleets aren't running totally empty this year... although my Hertz rental is $40 cheaper, so I might head there and see what vehicle I can get. Does anyone know if all the rental companies are garage-level? i.e. I can see the fleets before heading into the office to rent. This'll be my first time at YVR. Anyone know between the three companies, which has the best lots this time of year?

National lot might be relatively empty on Sunday but there shouldn't be any issue to get a compact or mid-size SUV with EE status.
At Vancouver the demand for smaller sedans/hybrid vehicle are high due to higher gas price.
Easy walk to the rental garage and all major companies are on the same level, not far from each other. You can definitely walk around first to see what available.

Hertz at YVR is not an ultimate choice location but they are trying to improve their service this year and more accommodating than last year.
