leaving your pets behind you?

(I don't know them - but I am sure CatMan can give his professional judgement on this offer)

Pet parties for the millennium

NORWALK, Conn. — Pets whose owners leave them out of grand tour plans for the millennium can party with their own kind at special resorts across the country. Best Friends Pet Resorts say they are planning a New Year's Eve howl with party treats, catnip and gifts, including a ''I Howled in the Millennium at Best Friends'' scarf and back pack. The party will cost $25 for dogs or cats who are boarding for less than a week, but the bash is free for those staying a week or more, Best Friends announced from its headquarters here. For information on locations of the 30 facilities in 17 states call 888-For-Pets.

My wife Sally works for the FDIC and has been told not to expect to be able to take vacation time over the jillenium (I left that in there on purpose). This kills normal family activity, since we usually go to Atlanta for the holidays and leave the two dogs in a kennel. They get great service and are played with twice a day, and all that sort of stuff. But if Sally can't take vacation, our pets will get a whole bunch of extra personal attention.
Cats? I don't know.

Ditto for me on the ixnay of Y2K festivities. All vacation from 30 December to 15 January has been summarily cancelled. If I'm not called in to work, perhaps I'll load up the wife & cats for a trip to Pleasure Island. 'Only' 200 bux a head. Sure. That's reasonable. Anything I can do to keep Mickey's ears painted.

Cheers,

'toad

Best Friends is an animal care and hospital facility in the Western U-S. They are a very good charitable group who has saved hundreds of animals over the years. They are on to something.

It's hard for me personally to leave my YAZ & EDDIE home but I have a neighbor who watches them when I have to leave (and come home to various little torn curtains and broken glass, etc!)

My company has said NOTHING about whether we all have to be available New Year's Eve. But I put my December time off Request in March so unless they plan to say something I tend to be celebrating my BIRTHDAY and the new millenium with friends, somewhere.

Or with my cats at home.

OMNI: Again, I'm so not into this millenium stuff. OK It's a new century. Another way for companies to make money.

What's more important is it's before MY BIRTHDAY!!!
