AA miles would definitely be worth more than most airlines. I thought about going there when the DL takeover made leaving NW necessary. The problem with AA, however, since I do a lot of TATL flying, is that TATL involves two bigs problems, Heathrow, the worst gateway airport in Europe, and BA, which often doesn't award miles on AA. Those are the two big downsides to AA. There are lot of positives like much better award avaibility and the one way tickets at half the miles.
I can't really gripe about the older C seats when I can get the confirmable SWU fares on UA metal for under $800 R/T. But if I'm dropping the recently-increased redemption levels in miles, I want a bit better product. At least let me book the LH/LX seats that are available.

I have used over 90 Int Biz awards so far for my friends and family.
I have helped people get many more awards.
Now I do not worry if my miles are worthless.
Not that I want it to happen, but even if my remaining miles all vanish,
that will increase the cost of my awards by 10% at the most.
I now continue to accrue as long as the cost is below 1.2c and
I try to redeem above 1.5c - I will always come out ahead.
The offers get better and better, with cheaper miles
I bought US miles for 2.5c to go to Asia for 2500$ in Biz instead of 3000.
Now I am getting them for 1.4c/mile with the double miles promo
DL/NW gave me transfer bonus 100% for effectively 1.1c / mile
The same ticket is now 1500-1800$ -
makes me fly a lot more than I thought I would.
