Mid Year Status Update & Spend
I thought these numbers were intresting enough to share....we track our spend and yields thoroughly...these are for myself only...and they don't take into account employees or family members.
There are some pretty interesting things here...for example, look at the yields on WN as compared to other airlines. Why is that? (Rhetorical question...I understand why.)
I was actually suprised how low the yields for CO were until I thought about it....I've scored at least a couple of inexpensive flights and upgraded them with miles, long hauls...I did one trip, PVD-SFO-PVD for $300.40....$0.044/mile...and upgraded one way with miles, road in the bone crushing back the other way. I've used miles several times this year...in order to work at managing my expenses.
Interesting stuff, none-the-less.....and I think the numbers bear out exactly how my thought process for purchasing works.

I am very, very small fry this year as I have cut my travel, but below are my numbers. All of my travel has been personal and out of my own pocket.
Please note that my one United ticket purchase was flown on US metal and credited to US Airways.
With regard to my US Airways purchases, I redeemed my last E-TUVs on two itineraries, $100 and $50 respectively.

I have flown US this year!
I'm sensing a little hostility here, Gary...
I know for me, I'm just communicating is all...my motto, don't worry! Be happy!

Well, we Finns use a different calculus when applying accounting techniques to our flying.
US Air:
Where you live and what you value determines where and with whom you're gonna fly. The game is pay the man whether it's the government or an airline. I'm more afraid of the government crashing under debt than I am of US Air charging me more than WN.
Gotta go to the beach and get ready for another Spanish night. Adios
Barry
US Air:
- flights this year = 10 6 domestic 4 TA
- Miles flown = 18 K I guess
- Air Fare = price that fit our flying need/budget
- Taxes paid = to the Fed? they want it all. Otherwise I don't know except that I know they screwed me in LHR on the UK UG tax

- Average Yield = since Obama came to town, I stopped looking as it's all negative

- Miles flown versus beer and wine consumed at destination = unable to say as we're in Spain at the moment and we're up to 5 bottles of wine and we can't remember the rest of the numbers. ^
- Satisfied with US or not? = still flying them, on time with bags & having some UG success and successfully playing the Z fare + Envoy UG game TA all of which gets us to our destination in good staid from the PHL market in which we live
- Who do I like more, Obama or Parker? = The former is running America like the later initially tried to run the new US Air. Given that US is now a mostly on-time with bags airline, I can forgive the later. I vote for Parker.

As for the CO/US matrix...that is only one VERY small part of the equation...but, I'd guess you know that.

I can not go into such detail but here is what I have done this year
On USAIR
2 Segments PHL to BOS did not go back and look up the fares
I do have 4 segments planned for next week
PHL - BOS
PHL - LAX
As I have stated before I use US when they can get me where I am going when I need to be there on a non-stop.
Also, they are mostly innocent since they do not fly where I have been going for the last 18 months except London.
SQ
EWR - SIN 6 segments
JFK - SIN 8 segments
SIN - SYD 4 segments
BA
PHL- LHR 4 segments

After having CP status for about 8 or 9 years, I dropped to Plat last year, nothing this year. Now I fly Delta when I can and they've been pretty good...much kinder than US as far as accommodating and making me feel appreciated. Just Silver there so far. Only one trip on US this year and it was an award. Have to figure out what to do with the 420k or so miles I have left!

Since this is focused on a comparison of all the various airlines flown YTD by the OP and responders, we'll move this over to MilesBuzz, where it's perhaps more relevant.

Overall? My US flying is up slightly, but it's almost all been on "junk" fares.
My WN flying us up, since I can use them to get to DEN and RDU when US has no "junk" fare available. They're actually nice.
I've just crossed 1100 miles or so on DL, but credited to CO (project in ATL).
ZERO on CO. I'm just not willing to risk their IRROPS in the summer AND a connection.
75k+ on AA.
Overall, my flying is down miles and spend wise. The miles part is largely due to a client change from the west coast to midwest and east coast. The spend is due to no more paid F.
That said, I'll be finishing up EXP and then focusing on CO - I could use the *A status being PHL-based.

I was on a project based in PHL for 2 1/2 months. The return flight home my last week on that project, I hit US Silver. Just my luck that the following week, I'm placed on a 5 month project that is all remote work. Works out well, as I am moving next month, but its just a pain that I have not had the opportunity to capitalize on any of my Silver benefits (if you can call them that!
)US: 30 segments, 26K miles
DL: 4 segments, 2K miles
AA: 4 segments, 2K miles
I'll be switching to either AA or DL as soon as I resume traveling and relocate to BNA...still pondering that decision
