AWA only offers an expedited track to SPG Gold. 5 stays instead of 10.

I'm not just looking for SPG status. Any hotel change will work.
Anyone else have good info on this?

I can not understand what is the big deal there. I would think they should jump at the opportunity to lure someone from staying at Hilton and switching their stays to Marriot. No?

That's exactly what I was thinking...the benefits can't be much better than Hilton Honors.

Is the United Mileage Plus status comp still current? I'd like to let a friend of mine know and don't want to give her bad info. Also, does UA have a challenge for a higher level too?

NWA Comp

I would like to get a comp from UA 1k to NWA Plat.

Does anyone know if NWA comp above gold. I then plan to transfer my address to europe to have it matched to KLMs FD scheme.

Thanks

I did not wade thru all 20 Pages of this thread, so if this info regarding Midwest Airlines has been posted somewhere else - so sorry! I'm posting because I didn't see it in gleff's original post on Page 1.

I just had an interesting conversation w these folks. FWIW, Midwest's Elite Program is referred to as the Executive Program. Normal qualification is as follows:

20K miles or 25 OW segs in a year

There are some unique threshold bonuses:

30K = 5K bonus
each additional 10K = 5K more up to a total of 15K bonus

$99 per year Executive member membership to Lounge

Executive Club members are entitled to one 10K discount per year on one award at the 40K level or above - including a 10K discount when claiming w AA, apparently.

Miles can also be earned when traveling on AA or Frontier - altho these are are non qualifying Elite miles.. (I really kind of like this one, because it would allow me to lump miles into a singe program when traveling in certain areas of the country when the miles would ordinarily wind up 'split' between carriers).

Status match requests from other airlines will be entertained at :

[email protected] or can be faxed to: 414-570-0192 (the airline prefers an e-mail, since it will be routed FASTER!).

Please include a copy of OAL ELITE CARD AND A RECENT STATEMENT!

Midwest informs me that not only will they consider a status match - but recent 'job change' applicants will be considered as well. Such applicants should clearly state how many miles that they are likely to travel in a given year when making this request.

These requests will be considered and a 90 day provisional status may be granted, subject to a review which will be completed at the end of this period.

I am not an expert on this program. So I hope that I got all of that right. :D

Concerning hotels comping - I don't have any experience requesting comps - but as an AA EXP (top tier) have received solicitations from several hotels (most recently Marriot) offering temporary status for free or/and mid/top status after completing only a couple stays. As I am a priceline person for hotels - I haven't taken advantage of any of the offers but they are out there...

Thanks

I requested NWA status match (from UA 1K) on Sep '04.
* They only comped to Gold, not Platinum.
* In spite of the timing (late '04), they only comped to Feb '05.

I flew 30K Oct-Dec '04 and requested to extend my Gold status to '06 if they want my business continuously, but they declined.

Not likely to happen since they are in the same alliance. And also AAdvantage usually puts "status match" seekers (and others) on a fast-track "challenge" of 5000 qualifying points for AA Gold or 10,000 for AA Platinum, to be accomplished within 90 days.

10,000 qualifying points, that seems quite easy doesn't it. Y return to New York is about 7k.

Doesn't even have to be on AA - any OW carrier will do. And I hope you didn't mean $7000 for that Y return... If you happened to be in the neighborhood, SIN-SYD in World Traveller Plus on BA should be about $675rt, and will get you ~12000 Q-Points. Quick and easy, and not too painful.

A better way, in my opinion - would be buy a J ticket by paying £695 cash for WT+ to KRK-LON-SFO-LON-KRK, then mfu'g to J for 30,000 miles - then changing your baec number to an AA one. Don't quote me on that, as haven't tried it myself yet! (changing the number).

Drat - just realised about this no miles allowed on BA transatlantic thing, well subsititute SFO then for YVR or somewhere similar.
