When can I enroll my son (18months) in any FF program?
My son is about 18 months and we plan on making afew trips this year. When can I get my son enrolled in any FF program?

I don't know of a minimum age limit. My two kids, now 1.5 and 4 years old, are members of AA and UA's programs, and last year they almost achieved Premier status on UA.
Since the younger one travels on half-price tickets, he sometimes doesn't get miles for his flights. UA explains that the half-price infant tickets are not eligible for miles. However, about half the time, he gets the miles anyway.
UA Mileage Plus CSAs explain that those miles may be subtracted if detected by an audit....

My daughter had a NW Worldperks account before she was born. We enrolled her in the Fly Free Faster promo while she was still in the womb (we knew we were having a girl and what we would name her). A few purchases in her name and our baby girl had over 10k in her Worldperks account the day she was born.

BWIA's BWee Babies program will give triple miles to your baby for its first flight if your register it before it turns 3 years old. The airline also offers other nice services to folks flying with babies. (Those who dislike flying on airplanes full of crying babies might want to take note that this program might have a high rate of success.)

BA has an age requirement of 18 unless listed as part of a household account. Most hotel programs 18, but even then to my knowledge Hilton is the only one that has ever asked. My kids were enrolled within days of their births with applications ready to go as soon as we knew the sex! Both had some type of status before we were ever required to have purchased them a single ticket.

I had my son enrolled in a couple of programs long before he earned miles for actual flights. There are way too many non-flying opportunities out there not to have a child enrolled the day they are born.

Gees, I am not sure when you can enroll them, BUT, me thinks anyone under 2 years old maybe able to fly free. Ergo, it begs the question, if this is true, why would you want to enroll them before they are 2 years old. Besides, if you do enroll them at the age, they may grow up to be as paranoid as we all are about FF miles.

hey thanks everybody..
just a clarification:
but children under 2 are not allowed to fly free internationally , even on the lap..they charge 10% of the full fare!!! just got back froma long trip with my son:-)

My daughter was getting FF miles for international trips before she was 2 years old. Nothing like paying 10% and getting full miles. This was 10 years ago, but it was nice at the time.

There's a thread on the UA board where a poster just discovered that children under 2 who pay half price for a domestic seat do not receive any miles.
