I'm curious to know what airline this was on. IME, the 10 percent fare on international trips is for lap children (those under 2) and they do not receive miles. Children under 12 who pay a discounted international fare for their own seat, usually 80 percent, do receive miles.

There's a thread on the UA board where a poster just discovered that children under 2 who pay half price for a domestic seat do not receive any miles.
