0 miles for international flight?

I posted same question in CX forum. I did a search for late March JFK - HKG RT tix (thread titled "different fare"). CX own website indicates I'll earn 0 miles.

Is this something new? I am totally not aware of this....not getting any miles on a cheaper economic int'l RT flight. Please shed some light if you can.

I'm not a CX expert but I believe that if you don't fly a certain fare class, you will not receive miles.

You may be able to earn miles if you use a CX FF number - my roommate did a CX flight from JFK-(connection in Canada somewhere, not sure where)-HKG-BKK and was told he couldn't earn OneWorld miles - but I think some other FT'ers said he could somehow earn Swiss miles - not sure if he did or not - I know he wasn't allowed to earn AA miles though (it specifically said that in the rules) - I told him to sign up for the Swiss account, however, some people just don't seem to care for the miles, even if it is about 20K for one trio...sadly, he's one of those people.

I do think you can earn Alaska air miles.

Unless things changed, JAL and KE give I believe 70% of the miles flown for low (at least student) fares.

It all depends upon the fare and if it one of their special's. To earn AA miles you have to book in H or higher. The deal of the month and visit Asia Pass earn zero miles.

Adamak,

Cross-posting isn't really allowed here unless it's some kind of hot topic that refers to the original. I'm going to close this here.
