Delta and MilesForMags

Hello,

I am new here, and don't know if this is the right forum for my question. I searched elsewhere on this site, and it seems the recommendation was to come here.

In any case, I ordered the Economist using my Delta SkyMiles (3200 miles) sometime in Oct'08. I was told that it would take a few weeks. I called the customer service for MilesForMags in early Jan., and was told that Delta had denied authorization and hence my subscription was cancelled. I checked my Delta a/c, and saw that the miles had been deducted, but that made no impression on the agent at MilesForMags.

I then called Delta SkyMiles customer service; one, very helpful, agent spoke to MilesForMags and explained the situation to them. I was told that someone from the latter would get in touch with me; no luck.

Yesterday, I called Delta Skymiles again, and spoke to a supervisor. She basically said that they couldn't anything, since the onus was now on MilesForMags and I should pursue the matter on my own.

I don't want to waste too much time. What is the best strategy at this point? It's not clear where the problem is, Delta or MagsForMiles, or both?

Thanks
Vivek

I would keep dealing with Sky Miles, but you'll get better answers in the Delta forum. I'll alert a moderator to move this.

Welcome to FT!

well, someone from MilesForMags called me 10 mins. ago and said that the problem had been resolved, and they will start my subscription.

I had sent them a follow-up e-mail yesterday asking them to call me, but didn't think that they would take it seriously.

We'll see what happens next...

You might want to give it a little time now. Since the CSA said they've resolved the matter, it might be an additional 8-12 weeks until you receive your first issue. Typically Miles for Mags is one of the slowest third party Mag ordering services in the industry.

Yeah, the person who called me said the same thing, so I am not holding my breath ;-)

This is very surprising as I have subscribed to the Economist through Delta Skymiles for the last three years and have never had a problem.

OP - this has been my experience with this company. Every subscription takes multiple calls and follow ups before it happens.

My previous Economist sub via Delta miles started around 12 plus weeks after order. I am now waiting for a new sub to start and it has been over 12 weeks--although the miles have already been deducted.

And, keep in mind, you will not be able to do a vacation stop on the Delta paid sub.

I haven't been able to do a vacation stop with an Economist Delta paid sub, however I have been able to with WSJ.
