Are you calling me OBSCURE huh???????

First someone accuses me of buying tickets, and then some Nu Yoiker calls me OBSCURE.

I think this is all a TOS violation. I am going to email xxxxx unless some fat apologies start flying around here. And if THAT doesn't happen I am going to ............

Oops, sorry folks, wrong thread. As you were.

I am wondering something:

Say I have like 1,000,000 miles on airline X and wish to get tickets for a bunch of "friends." OK, so the airline lets me arrainge this big fat sale and go pick them up to give to friends. Now I axe ya, who is to say I cannot ask those people for a few bucks to cover costs, etc?

In MASS, I have heard that when you sell a concert ticket I think you are actually allowed to recoup something like 3% on top of your OWN ticket costs and listed fees for yourself. Now if you sell one that was just sold to you, is that another 3%? Who knows. The Point is similar to radio stations playing your favorite songs and the DJ suggests that this might be a good time to tape it for yourself! Illegal or no?

ALL of this is rather vague law and garble, in my opinion--you know, like that BofA money order thing. Who knows the REAL deal anyway? There are nreal rules--just the FACT that someone was PUBLIC enough to get noticed by an airline exec. who was pissed off by feeling duped because that person was actually able to do what my above million miles example is actually suggesting--and they used the very popular and public Ebay to pull it off, almost!

In short: I have easily SOLD the use of awards to friends in need who were willing to pay me some decent money rather than buy a full-on ticket for a ton more cash at airline X, and sometimes I even made a few nice bucks off of it so we were all happy! I didnt use Ebay, but should it matter if you dont really KNOW the person, or is it just a matter of THEM thinking so?...

Perhaps the ease of my doing this is later 'paid for' in other ways through my constantly frustrating battles about having to go to airports to pick up tickets I bought for somebody else.

and how do they figure the 15,000 mile fee? Is that all you had left on that carrier? Hmmm. Who's REALLY right? The one with the power to click and deduct, or neither entity?

Hah! I used to sell dozens of Delta 500-mile certificates on eBay, but they couldn't do anything. Use a free email account and don't use your real name w/ eBay. They can't do JACK. I would laugh and print out the threatening Delta letters on the wall by my PC as I collected all that money.

Of course it helped that the delta certs were not linked by name to me.

Courts have held that taping a program off the air for personal use is prefectly legal.

Hey QuietLion! I was just thinking the other day I had not seen a new Tale prowl onto the board of late. Does your faithful audience have anything to look forward to in the coming months?

I picture some guy in a trenchcoat standing on a dark streetcorner whispering to passersby...

"Hey! You wanna buy a mile?"

Well, my seat opponent yesterday was Michael Moore. That was pretty fun. He was very contrite about his verborrhea at the Oscars, saying he had always thought it was inappropriate for people to go off on these irrelevant political statements at the ceremony... he said he really needed an "edit" button. Very nice guy although I don't usually agree with his politics. One thing we both agreed on... neither of the current political parties represents either of us very well.

what company? Do they know that we are living in a CAPITALIST state?? It is a commodity just like another commodity, you perceived a need (a niche market), you jumped into the market place (eBay) and you became a CAPITALIST, and OWNER of production. You help to enrich youself, now this company is forcing a negative impact on you.

What company, is that negative impact in your contract with them??? If not, SUE SUE SUE...force the opening of this market without these unregulated negative impacts (and attacts) to you as a CAPITALIST...

Isn't living in Mother Russia great...ooops I mean living in CAPITALIST DRIVEN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA???

[D]emand YOUR RIGHT to make a profit...

Let's all try to keep the discussion focused on the topic of selling miles and points and the consequences for doing so.

And let's try to keep the thoughts a bit, shall we say, more understated?

Thanks,
Gary

Gleff, with all due respect to you as a moderator, don't you think that as a moderator you should keep peace and calm at this forum instead of shooting off unfounded allegations?

Would you be kind enough to post something to substantiate your claim against Ozstamps?

I have met OZ personally and have found him to be a very nice guy who is willing to go out of his way to help others and such accusations don't go down very well with me. Please, either substantiate your claim or withdraw it in the same manner as you posted your acusation.
