More FF horror stories

In the April "Travel and Leasure" a frequent flyer named Jim Duggan outlines some of the horrible experiences he's encountered as an FF.

The most interesting:

*People who floss in public (I also find this revoluting
*those passengers (he singles out Business men in particular) who take their shoes off and put their sock covered feet everywhere. Well, My socks are always clean and fresh from Tide and Bounce so he can't be talking about me. I have to take my shoes off on long flights otherwise my feet swell.
*What he calls the "first class jerks:" Esp.
the one in first who snapped his fingers to get the F-A's attention. Now that's rude.

It's a short but interesting article, considering we've all shared our Flying horror stories.

This guy must have a personal problem. Flossing in public has nothing to do with frequent flying. It's GROSS wherever it happens to be done.

Here's one that's right up there with flossing in public - a man clipping his fingernails in the waiting lounge in Charleston, WV. I thought I was hallucinating.

I've seen people flossing their teeth as well as walking around business class bare foot which is not too attractive.

If you want real horror stories, ask me about my adventures on Indian trains! You don't want to know what people do there ...

Another annoyance: coming back on the ORD-EWR flight: Thinking I was safe from the annoying people in first, right behind me are these two intoxicated people who spent the whole flight giggling and yaking.

All I need after a long day working!

The F-A's already told them "No drinks for you" for which they were surprising understanding.

I was so flustered I had a Jack Daniels and passed out. (Needed the rest for another fun day at work tuesday.)

The only exception to "Merry" flyers (not our Merry FLyer) is the folks on teh P-I-P plane.
Never had a MaiTai-- is it like a PEPSI?

How about getting stuck on a international charter tour to Disney World in coach?
Teenagers trying to be funny by talking loud and throwing stuff at others.

Read an old posting from me from November about my horrible LAS-EWR flight back in Coach on CO. NOt the service so much but the "Generation X" crowd seated around me.

Unruly teenagers grow into unruly young adults who annoy other flyers.

NOTE: NOT all teens and young adults are this way. We have young adults on F-T who won't act this way!

Funny when I was a teenager and a young adult just ten minutes ago I never acted this way on a plane, Greyhound bus, subway, anywhere!

Catman, your story brings back sad memories of my flight from JAX to DCA last Sunday morning. Thinking I was safe in FC from the "loud crowd", these four guys (mid-40's) get on board, sit in row 2 and start tossing back screwdrivers to cure themselves of too much booze from the night before... on a 7 AM flight!!! All the while they are talking across rows about how much they had drank the night before and the wedding party that was staying in their hotel the night before and "what they'd like to do with the young ladies" from that wedding party. I'm no prude but I wanted them to shut up. I'm sure the polite, elderly couple seated next to me would have enjoyed the same peace and quiet. The flight attendants handled it well telling them that there were some passengers who were trying to sleep in the other rows and please keep it down. Matt Wald will tell you that this happened because it was a US Airways flight (kidding, of course) but I know that these types exsist on all airlines... Cheers.

Catman: What's "Revoluting?" I Can Make it "Revolving", but that doesn't seem to fit; I can make it "Revolutionary," but that doesn't seem to fit, either. I thinbk you probably meant "Revolting." I agree.
And Mai Tais are great! They're a juice-based drink with so much much booze you'll never recover. It doesn't look like I'll be able to make the trip -- my 50th high school renunion conflicts; so we'll just go as far as SFO.

Phil: I did mean Revolting. That's what happens when drunken flyers make a trip frustrating! It makes my cat hair stand on end!!!

Geo: I've seen in my travelers that some may sit in first class but may have lower class behavior (EX: the four "proper and sober" men on your flight.) OMNI: there are certain things that should NOT be discussed in public. When I hear these kind of converstations I feel like taking my drink and drowning these uncooth people and then lecturing them on how people should act in public!

Sorry about that rant, but I feel like taking a hose of COCA COLA to these guys!
