SBC - any partners?

As under the "phone" headings, SBC isn't an option, I was wondering if they partner with any FF program, as I haven't ever heard of anything, but maybe there's something out there or in the works, as they are now more aggressive in the long distance arena???

Don't we all wish. As a monopoly in many areas (or nearly such), they don't need partnerships to get new subscribers.

Not a monopoly any more. I recently switched from SBC to MCI'c 'neighborhood', and I couldn't be happier. SBC keep calling me trying to get my business back, and I tell them to call me back when they can beat MCI's deal AND give me NW miles. Not that I'd actually go back.

It is sad that SBC is basically a monopoly. Even MCI and the others who compete down here in Texas aren't much of a threat. I'm glad you're happy, HighFlyer -- I pray for you if you ever have to move and need to get your service reactivated! (Since SBC owns the lines on which MCI runs its local service, which means it can take up to 60 days, at SBC's sole discretion, when they move your service.)

But I digress, I only recently switched long distance packages with SBC to the unlimited service and asked if they were planning to have any promotions with FF progs and the like. They said no, at least not in the near future.

HigherFlyer,

I did the same thing as you did--switched to MCI Neighborhood from SBC. However, MCI charges higher taxes than SBC for some reason. For example, there is this fee that they charge me $6 or $7 in addition to other taxes. Plus, their plan in my area is $49.99 a month.
SBC tried to outdo them by offering the All Distance Connections for $48.95.

Unfortunately for me, I had to switch back because MCE kept making billing errors.
I could live without the miles if, ultimiately, I save more money than the worth of the miles.

You can pay your SBC bill by credit card over the phone, and get miles that way. :-)
