Using my FF number in somebody else's booking
Hey All,
Just wondering if most airlines have systems in place to detect weather the FF number in a booking doesn't belong to the name in the booking. My partner travels alot on *A carriers but has never been intersted in becoming a FF of any airline. What would happen if we put my FF number into his PNR?
It would be a nice way of accruing some miles, but I'm tipping that most airlines would be up to this. Just seems that they miles should go to somebody, its not like they're being claimed twice.
In addition, some people may have different name details on the PNR (which must be as per passport) than on their FF card. Just wondering if it would be picked up...
Anybody with any insight

FWIW, the (flown) miles credits go to the passenger whose name is on the ticket. You don't get miles from others' itineraries. Your strategy will not work (entering your FF# into his tickets), unless his name is the same as yours.

Thanks Lin,
I guess the point would be to try and claim her FF miles rather than letting them go to waste. I'm with ROP and UA. UA I can transfer miles from one account to another but it still costs money.
Are there any other *A FFP's that let you transfer between members?

OZ let's family members pool miles together for an award. It's only for true family members though, so unless you're married to your partner it won't work.

This happened to my wife while she was in the process of changing her name. As a result, she was denied FF credit (basically, they wouldn't even accept the FF number on the PNR) until we later convinced the airline that she was the same person.

My middle name is my dad's first name. If I wanted to put my flight on his FF card, do you think that would work then? My passport shows my full name (incl middle name) but his FF card would essentially show just my middle and last name
