Continental Mile Transfer
My son has about 12,000 miles in a CO account, and I have about 40,000. We rarely fly CO anymore and I was wondering what I could do to pull the miles out of his account to one that we do use. I received the CO offer to transfer miles at a rate of $5 per 500 miles, but that's $0.01 per mile, which is not cheap.
Any other options out there?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Amazingly, there are countless threads in the CO forum on what to do with orphan CO miles. </font>

You might want to check if Amtrak allows people to combine Amtrak accounts or hold joint accounts. If so, then you could do:
CO acct1 --> Amtrak --> CO acct2</font>

I would just use AMTRAK to take out 10K of your son's account and do what you can with your 40K. I have about 34K in CO and will just leave it there in case it's the only airline that has availability in an emergency. I took out all of my daughter's through AMTRAK, and somehow got those to my Diner's Club card. My husband's were transferred to Hilton, but as I said I left my 34K alone.(for now). At least 40K is enough to get a ticket.
