Flying to Europe, best program to accumulate miles?!
Hey there,
I'm flying to Europe from California on United/Lufthansa....
I'm trying to figure out which airline miles program I should use to accumulate miles?!
I currently have about 20k with Asiamiles, but that does not good. (I'm planning on eventually topping off the account with starwood points)
I'm looking for a program that has a good reputation for cheap redemption and valuable miles...
Someone mentioned Singapore miles, is that my best bet?
I hope this is the right place to post this...
Thanks a lot.... Dan

Thanks for your reply... Good points.
I guess I'll be interested in using my miles to probably fly to the far east.
I remember someone told me US mileage programs are less valuable than Asian/European programs.... So I was wondering if anyone can recommend any mileage partners with United that would have reasonable mileage tickets to Asia...
Thanks for your help. Dan

I suggest that you spend a bit of time studying the wealth of info offered on this site and then ask some more informed questions.
I'll get you started, however. There are 3 major airline alliances: Star, OneWorld, and SkyTeam. The idea is to accrue miles in any member of a particular alliance and then use the miles on another. For example, I'm a UA guy. UA belongs to the Star Alliance (*A). I could accrue miles on UA flying around the US and to Europe and then use said miles to buy award tickets on Singapore Airlines (SQ) to Asia.
Good luck and good studying!
