Will any airlines match US Plat for Plat?

Many will match Gold for Gold, but any experience with anyone matching platinum? And if so, at what level?

The correspondence between elite level names and precious metals is far from standardized. Gold, for example, designates AA's lowest elite level, Delta's middle level, and the top level at both bmi and BA - but BA's is harder to earn than bmi's. Assuming AA and DL were both willing in principle to comp the other's elites, AA would surely give its Gold to a Delta Gold Medallion, but no way would DL give Gold Medallion status to someone holding "only" AA Gold AAdvantage status. Some airlines use designations that don't involve precious metals at all: "Chairman's Preferred," "Premier 1K," "Senator," etc. Perhaps you could rephrase your question in a more meaningful way?

OK, I'll speak more slowly...

WILL ANY AIRLINE MATCH US PLAT WITH (their equivalent level of US) PLAT?

In other words...

Will CO match US Plat with CO Plat?
Will DL match US Plat with DL Plat?
Will NW match US Plat with NW Plat?
Will UA match US Plat with 1K?
Will AA match US Plat with EP?

I think CO might match US plat (75K tier) with CO plat (also 75K tier)

Will DL match US Plat with DL Plat?
They don't really do status match to plat

Will NW match US Plat with NW Plat?
NW don't normally do status match to plat

Will UA match US Plat with 1K?
UA does not do status match to 1K under normal conditions, so I'd say there's no chance

Will AA match US Plat with EP?
AA will not, under most circumstances, do status match for EXP. They will, however, offer you Gold or Plat challenge.

I just requested a status match on NW last week (I'm US Plat). I'll post when I hear anything from them

Fyi, next time, please post in the appropriate existing thread. In this case, it would be the Status Match Master Thread.

Also, rather than getting snippy as you did in your response to Efrem, it would show better etiquette to be clear from the outset and indicate that you are looking for top tier matches rather than "platinum" matches, which can vary (AA vs DL as a case in point).

If I had known that the thread existed, I might have posted it there.

First of all, welcome to FlyerTalk.
With nearly 9 million posts on FlyerTalk, we've tried to organize it so that similar topics like this (which can be very popular) are easy to find. This forum has a few excellent Moderators who can assist you with finding some of these topics, so feel free to contact them at any time and i volunteer to help as well. It just so happens that one of the moderators of this forum, gleff, is the one who has consolidated many threads about this into the very handy status/elite match guide:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9558

Again welcome and as noted, Platinum can mean very different things depending on the program.

A great 2008 for you.
