HINT: if they knew they were about to do the 18 month changola, then they should have like fixed/re-worked the system first and THEN announced it!
Right now it really is totally confusing and a first-glance user cannot really be held accountable in my opinion. I mean, like I said, WE check our miles and track them, and we FT people are savvy to such things, but if some unsuspecting and trusting granny sees that she has til 2010 to worry about it again, she may be surprised come next summer.

well, my group does not make you have to stay late because of our inability to do things on time as promised, but yeah, you do have a point.

seems to me it's a lot harder to email an entire database than it is to fix an automated function field that relates to one's own account details. In other words, why cant UA just make it so if your last activity is Feb 07, that "redeemable" note at the end calculates 18 months out from there?
Print ("Please note that if your expiration date is after 12/31/07, your new expiration date will be 18 months after your last activity. Activity includes flying, redeeming miles, using your Mileage Plus Visa and more.")
line of code one place than it does to re-write the entire expiration calculation algorithm.
Not very valuable from a customer experience standpoint, but it was probably a handful of propeller-heads making the decision.

K,
but then they should like TAKE OUT the "redeemable in 2010" line altogether!
right?
at least make it say something like: "redeemable on: SEE BELOW" and then that line that is already there would remain as their new nicely added text.

iTunes still cost dollars, or cents.
Go to the Mall http://www.skymall.com/usairwaysmilesmall/homepage.htm and spend a couple bucks once a year and your miles will never expire.

Do you know how I can use my 3000 miles with USAir? I cannot find any links on the website like with Continental for example where you can buy a magazine or a paper.
thanks

I have 11,000 or so BA miles that are about to expire. No qualifying flight plans before the expiration date next month. Any ideas how I could very inexpensively and painlessly extend their shelf life?

good luck & let us know!

well, years ago, I once had 40k ba miles...
I asked my friend with 10+K ba miles simply go on line to chg his home address on their site, then I stuck his name on my mailbox next to mine temporarily, then I got a form from ba to merge people in the same household's miles together.
Soon after, I booked a europe trip for 50k and later unassigned him in my profile (the form required faxing in with our signatures on it, etc) and later he changed his now near zero accounr back to old address online. It's all what the computer says... and according to ba, it said at the time we shared same household
the place could just be a big boarding house, right? try it!
