Airmiles (Canada) insurance..
Booked a flight from Calgary to Frankfurt and took the preferred insurance package. Paid $326.00 (CA) for my wife and me.
Anyone have any experience with airmiles travel insurance, is it worth it or can I get cheaper (generally) from other insurers?
Thanks.

What on earth costs that much money? Are you seniors?
I'm not familiar with AM insurance packages. But, I doubt they are of any real value considering the price you paid. I am 24, and I pay $1.50 per day for European travel, which covers me up to 2 million dollars for extended health insurance, ambulance, and emergency hospital.
Tell me more about your package and I'll let you know if it is a good deal. That seems very, very high. How long are you going for?

It doesn't seem to bad of a deal, because of the trip cancellation insurance, which can be expensive. It still seems way too high thoguh, but nothing I would cry much about. If I were you, I'd just leave the trip cancellation if your plans aren't really going to change much. Airlines cover cancellations due to death in the family or other emergencies, so it's not very useful unless it's you choosing to cancel the trip
You would be better off heading into the Co-Operator's offices, or Wawanesa. Check with the people who do your auto/home insurance, they can often give you a substantial discount for being a auto or home customer.
Hope this helps..

The BMO Mosaik Mastercard insurance provides similar coverage with their Gold insurance package. You have to pay for all or part of the flight with the card. I assume paying the taxes and fees would qualify as 'part'. I think this insurance coverage is ~$70/yr.

I think you have to pay an additional fee for this extended coverage, but yes, it is much better than the Air Miles overpriced stuff. I have the $70/yr card but I don't have the additional coverage - I think it's an extra $55? I may be wrong about the exact amount.
