So it appears that Goldpoints got in over their head with the triple points offer and is now looking for ways minimize the damage. However, IMO they are trashing their reputation for a relatively small percentage of the liability. Goldpoints traditionally have been based on the total before discounts (and tax & shipping). And not just with valuemags.

Also, they seem to have granted themselves extra time to deliver the points. If they can't afford to deliver the normal, expected points, they need to be upfront about it. Perhaps they need to ask their parent company, Carlson, for a bailout.

Anyway, they need to find a way to quickly resolve the point descrepancies. Letting us all call customer service and get different responses is not a good way to get the problems under control!

Finally, keep in mind that ValueMags does not influence the value of the points posted. E.g. 150 per dollar vs. 450 per dollar. GoldPoints will reconcile each account and make points are awarded points appropriately.</font>
It sounds like the big blame-shift is very much underway. Never mind the problem, just fix the blame.

Check out my post on the other thread in Buzz!:

maybe we should discuss this over there, as this thread has gotten rather large (13 pages!)?

I say we keep the discussion on this thread and perhaps the other long-lived threads here and in the Radisson forum. Switching to a new thread called "Goldpoints Valuemags December order" is confusing and unnecessary.

I had a similar thought-- what about someone starting a new thread explicitly entitled:
Post your GoldPoints horror stories here

I think that might be the easiest, clearest way to have a one-stop thread to gather the most attention-- both within and without FT.

And, yes, I'm aware that in theory, this thread should be in S.P.A.M forum-- but in this case hopefully the moderator would allow-- there's a lot of money at stake here and we need to apply maximum pressure on GoldPoints.

With the improved title, I agree this could be a more focused way to get corporate attention. I was thinking about sending an email to the parent company, Carlson Companies, with a link into this thread to highlight the bad publicity they are getting. A thread more focused on the missing points and broken promises might be easier for them to understand.

Indeed you did. I just wanted to get a little more of a sense if if people think it's a good idea to have a new, clearly-named thread. Any other thoughts?

To be clear; I have one goal-- to shame GoldPoints into doing what they are contractually, legally required to do. What they promised.

Enough with the cop-outs and B.S. blame-shifting, GoldPoints.

**For those so inclined:**

Please post a brief summary of what you're missing and roughly how many phone calls, faxes, e-mails you have exchanged with GoldPoints/ValueMags.
