Exchanging points via Points.com

Has anyone ever exchanged points between programs using Points.com? I was thinking of converting points from other programs to my Aeroplan account but was wondering if anyone has ever actually used the service and what your experiences might be.

I have used the service last year to exchange points from American West and Alaska to my American account. I find it helpful. I know I didn't get a 1 for 1 trade, but the other points were just sitting there as I haven't flown those airlines in years.

I am not sure how valuable that service is. I have 4,500 America West airlines that are orphan out there, but if I do the exchange to American or Delta, I only get 188 miles!

I think its better to do the transfer through a Hotel partner.

It just seems too little, and on top of that there is a transaction fee.

Some folks claim the best way is to transfer points to HHonors, then to the airline account. But you're going to lose a significant amount of points in the process, just like on points.com.

On 1-31-02, I requested a transfer of miles from Alaska and America West to Delta for me and also my wife. Points.com said Delta is having problems setting up the transfer. We still have not got our Delta points yet. I have emailed them points.com many times and they say they are waiting on Delta. Delta does not answer my emails about my transfer. So beware. We may not get the Delta miles, who knows?

I dont mind paying a transaction/market making fee, but points.com is a HUGE rip!

The Diners deal is complex, and in flux. It's one of the few services of value for DC, and just got downgraded, so just go to the DC board, and read the past 3 months of posts.
