I don't know if it is legal or not but I do know some other ppl have Texas Issued State IDs...however, i think one cannot carry both the TX id and the TX issued Driver's License. But that is the only other govt issued ID i can think of.
I always carry my passport just in case..

Most states offer an ID card... usually people who do not have a drivers license get this one...
Why would you need three Photo IDs?

Whenever (rarely) I'm asked for "multiple" or "several" forms of ID, I will product my Texas Drivers License and my American Express card and suggest that they call AmEx if they require further verification.

See if your bank or credit union issues credit cards or debit cards with your picture and signature on the front. Bank of America does.

Let's go back to the original post. Why would you need a third ID? In fact, why would you need more that a single ID. In all my HASSLED flights since 9/11 just my state photo ID was enough. When I traveled Intl I only used my passport... and maybe my State ID, not sure.
Why the question?

When I lived in Texas in the early/mid 80's, I had both a Texas ID & DL. At the time, the state had no problem with me having both. I used the ID for checks & the DL for the police (I got pulled over only once for a taillight, had Michigan plates/insurance & Texas DL--policeman said since I was a student having MI plates/insur. was OK. The situation in the earlier thread reminds me of the merchants asking for Soc. Sec. #, not really necessary IMHO but was part of lots of store policy, etc.

I know some people have gotten drivers licenses or non-drivers ID cards from states other than the ones that issued their license, mostly getting the ID in Florida.
Like everyone else, why do you want a 3rd ID? A passport is pretty much a lock (unless you're driving) so I don't see a need for anything else.

On the rare occasion when I have been asked to produce a 2nd photo ID (one of the more pointless and idiotic security procedures), I've been told that a company ID, credit card w/photo, etc. is acceptable. (It would be unusual for anyone other than a passport holder or government employee to have two gov't issued photo ID'S.
There's nothing to prevent you from having your own sole proprietorship called "John Smith Ventures," for example. The sole function of this business (which doesn't need to be registered or incorporated) would be to "look for business opportunities." Unless it has revenues and expenses, there wouldn't be any need to report it on your tax return.
Of course, it would be important for you to have a company ID for security purposes, so you'd need to spend 20 minutes printing one up on your color laser printer, sticking your photo on it, and getting it laminated down at your local copy shop-- all-in cost not more than a couple of bucks.
Although most people I travel with don't carry more than one form of photo ID when travelling domestically (for security purposes, it's actually better not to carry your passport for domestic journeys-- too much risk of loss), I suspect it is common practice amongst sophisticated terroists, con artists, and miscellaneous other self-respecting felons to carry 2 forms of photo ID to deflect suspicion.

Come into Manhattan, there are people on most street corners in Midtown hawking ID's from all fifty states for $10. Choose the ones you want, and a few minutes later you have all the ID's you could ever ask for. Official, no, but they are ID's.

In answer to several folks, I don't want to carry my passport any more than necessary. The company I work for does not issue photo ID's. I need something for the security folks other than my DL as they have accused me of that being a fake. Like a woman doesn't change her hair/hair color/age in the 8 years we carry a Texas DL!
I just need something for the security people so that I don't have to get into one of THOSE discussions!
thanks!

Security people do not really have the final say/authority to demand ID beyond a DL or PP for that matter. If they get stroppy and demand a second ID, ask for them to please summons a police officer to verify your ID.

In Illinois we have a FOID (Firearm Owners ID) that is state issued with a mug shot. Costs about $5 or $10. (Please let's not get into a NRA debate here.) But somehow, that would be the last piece of ID I would want to waive in front of the insecurity at the airport.
