Well, I hope that I have solved my problems. A new Sam's opened up nearby. I joined for a reduced cost membership, $17.50 for one year. They have photos on their cards, so we each got one. They said they 'required' all of our DL numbers. No way! So we got the new form of photo ID's without giving out one more bit of information.
At DFW, 'Not-so-bright' has been looking at ID's and tickets....abuse...soon they will all be gone away!

Just wait for the day that you are connecting in a hub, have a few hours, go through security and back and are surprised to find yourself "ARRESTED" for a speeding violation you have from the state which is 10 years old that you totally forgot about!!!!
Meanwhile a sleeper who no one is looking for for any reason breezes through security.
I have stated it ad nauseam everytime that this has come up. France, Germany, Spain and Italy have NEVER caught a known terrorist using his/her own ID. Ever. This despite the fact that they have mandatory national ID's which are potentially checked quite often (always when they travel).
Any person on this board could generate a completely full and clean set of ID's for him/herself (under another name)in 30-60 days, in the USA. Anyone who does not realize this is a fool. Many people in other countries can buy themselves completely "clean" sets of ID's in much less time.
Until a real biometric system is set up, this fact will not change.

If you had enough man power, you could steal an armored truck, right? So why do they bother having guards?
As long as the security precautions eliminate some potential scenarios and are reasonable, they're worthwhile.

I understand what you are saying but my point is that the costs (time, $, convienience, privacy loss, etc) should bring us some reasonably equal or better benefit.
I can not see how we are preventing any scenarios, detering any acts, or making it more difficult to conduct terrorism. Certainly not to the degree of the costs.
Factor in the undeniable fact that we really only need to check certain types of passengers (yes that's right, muslim men especially foreign ones). The rest of this is just a waste.
In the 60's when all the black churches were being burned, did investigators waste their time looking for suspects in the black communities? NO. Of course not. The went after the whites and the hate groups. The people that everyone knew were the ones respsonsible. It is RIDICULOUS that we are frisking grannys from Kansas!

Dear Lisamcgu, I'm too old to join the Army, but it's a good idea for the younger folk. I went to my bank and had a photo made to put on my bank card. I know that you travel a great deal. How do you handle all this?
