NYC Meeting

I think a meeting in NYC would be great since most of the Flyertalk members are not in Europe. If we can find a good date I would be willing to host at it one of our hotels.

Phil, Count me in as the first FlyerTalker who would be interested.

It's an easy hop for me. I can give those interested a tour of anything you wnat to see in NYC (except the illegal places.)

A friday or saturday would be best. Then I don't have to run to work at 3 in the morning!

And I'll even stay in town to help you happy travelers back to your hotels after too much "celebrating." CATMAN

Phil -- I'd be interested in coming up too, as I can't make it to Boston because of exams. And, I have to agree with the Catman, Fri/Sat would be the best days...

You can always count me in for NY.

In fact, I could probably arrange a tour of my company's TV and Radio studios, if anyone were interested.

When would be a good time? Do people need me to cut them a deal on a room? Which hotels do people like?

I was thinking of having a hospitality suite at the IC New York or The Mark (I love this hotel).

Catman any recommendations for a hotel to congregate at? Restaurant? Le Cirque 2000?

How does Feb 27th(a saturday) sound to everyone? Is that enough lead time?

As for restaurants, I'd vote for Chinese Food in Chinatown(a very quick 10-15 subway ride from most midtown hotels). Another choice is Guido's for Italian Food. Of course if yous guys like steak then Peter Luger's is in order.

As for hotels, I dont know what everyone's budget is(those non-local folks). If you want really nice hotels at a bit less than the major chains, I'd suggest calling Manhattan East, they are a local chain of 8 or 9 hotels, really nice places, 1-800-ME-SUITE, I think all of their rooms are suites. They dont offer any miles, but they are excellent values.

I argue since Pjaucutt suggested it... then maybe we can coordinate the NYC FlyerTalk
"mini-convention" around his schedule when he comes to NYC to inspect the hotel.

Although just about every weekend is good for me. If I"m traveling for business, I'll be back for the weekend. I don't have weddings,
birthdays, etc coming up so I'll be free.

That means Feb 27th would be fine. Or even
March (except the 20th which looks like Baobab's Boston "convention" date.)

The meeting would give me an excuse to stay at the new "W" boutique hotel on Lexington.
They have a special rate and I want to rack up those Starwoood's points.

For restaurants, I have NOT been to LeCirque
but I'll make it easy on everyone... I'll go anywhere. Peter Lugar's is great for steak but I don't believe they take credit cards.
(correct me Boomer.) There's also Ben Benson's for steak. Maybe we should pick a place that's easy to get to.

The Mark is one of my favorite hotels. I have NOT stayed there but it has a great restaurant, attentive service, a small quiet hotel where my celebrity photog says a lot of celebrities stay. And of course it's my namesake so it's the best.

NJDavid's offer also sounds great. I would take you to my workplace but our company BANS
any visitors unless I get it cleared by 13 people. It's also on the West Side. Plus the last time I sneaked visitors in the boss found me (on a saturday) and said "OH GOOD!
So & So calle dotu sicka dn you can work."
I declined so I don't want to end up that happening again! CATMAN

I just got an idea -- let's name a first choice and second choice restaurant for the NYC meeting.

The highest vote getter is where we end up going.

As I said... I will go anywhere (if you travel with me, you'll learn like my friends
that I am the easiest traveling companion!)

So I'll go with the majority. I like surprises! CATMAN

I've just been looking over my schedule, and I thought that I'd have a weekend free, but for the next two months it looks like that may not be the case. I've got too many Monday exams, and that shoots the weekends out. So, looks like I may not be able to make this one. However, I have to take the first part of my medical liscensing exam the second week in June, and am planning a get-away after that(3rd week in June), so maybe if there's interest, maybe some of you may have interest in a meeting then? Email me if you're interested, or have suggestion for a venue..

Well, if you want a Saturday tour of my offices and studios, that's not a problem.

We're on Park Ave near 59th, so consider what's close ( or maybe just take a few cabs, as I like the Chinatown idea. Hey, a new concept - 5 FFmiles with each piece of Dim Sum.)

Lemme know.

Okay we need a date (my preference March or April).

We need a restaurant first and second choices.

We need a hotel to meet at. I would suggest meeting either at The Mark or the IC.

Most of my April is booked...I could do the 10th. March is better, save for the Boston plans everyone is making.

PJC: Can I come if I am in town?

I promise not to wear my Union Jack boxer-shorts.

OK, here's what could work for me, but what's good for everyone else?

Date: March 27 (I know this is the week after the Boston fling, but right before my break, and then I could fly out of JFK)

Restaurant: Prefer steak myself (Pen & Pencil, it's close to the IC I think) but would really be ok with anything

Hotel: Stayed at the Park Hyatt several times, but again, not too pickey here, and Phil, if some type of deal could be cut on the room, hey the poor med student is all for that!!

Yes, Merry, but will you go so far as to wear tricolore boxers instead???

(Or perhaps you should make those European Community boxers...)
