Do We Need an Amtrak Forum?
With the advent of the Amtrak MBNA card and the generous Amtral awards program, more discussion has been occurring about Amtrak in the Visa/Mastercard forum. However, a recent thread in the Continental forum about Club Acela and the new Airlink trains between Penn Station and Newark point, IMHO, to the need for an Amtrak forum.
There are enough links to flying that I believe that it would be a viable forum for this site.

You might want to post this in the Suggestions Forum.

No apology necessary Gamma... just thought the "Powers that Be" would be more apt to see it there.

Here is a good site regarding Amtrak. The news is not up to date, but lots of good info and also a discount on Amtrak if you join. The discount is the same as AAA, but since JRF does not have a car in the US, this is a far better deal. http://www.narprail.org/

Nah, we'll get sick of hearing how they leave on time, lots of leg room, arrive 10 minutes before departure, no advance bookings needed, easily changed tickets.....
Seriously, it is a great and timely idea.
As the airport transition times lenghthen it is a good alternative for short distance.

For what it's worth, I'd like to see an Amtrak forum. They already are affiliated with Alaska Air's Mileage Plan and they also have that Air/Rail arrangement with United.

Ah, there you go! Another thing that I've missed because I don't read the United forum. I have no idea about the United/Amtrak deal. Would like to find out in the newly christened Amtrak forum.
