I agree, its the total price paid on the ticket that I look at, even when they segregate those taxes on segments etc, do I look at what is the price paid.

Who really cares? All I ever look at is total price for airline tickets and I could care less how the airlines break it down. If they didn't charge this fee, they'd just raise their fares anyway. If the hotels did just quote an all inclusive rate, I probably wouldn't bark too much
It's not like the hotels that wouldn't disclose the energy surcharge in your rate and would only tack it on at the end basically.
This fee is "hidden" in plain sight.</font>

HORSE HOCKEY!
the least the airlines could've done was said "thank you". instead, we're now being told that it is unreasonable to ask for the airlines do do ANYTHING to attemptt to entice customers back on airplanes. according to airline logic, we're supposed to suck it up, be brave, and pay full Y.
personally, i think the bailout should have come with more strings attached. every american taxpayer (notice i said taxpayer, not every american) should have received vouchers for dollars off future airline ticket purchases in exchange for the bailout. we could even have made the validity start 3 years from now, once the industry has recovered.
but instead, we enabled. we enabled poorly mananged carriers to survive, rather than allowing the market to solve its own problem. we bought into the airlines "we're too important to fail" lie, and have created a monster. yes, a healthy airline industry is important. but so important that a private industry was given permission to raid the public treasury? i disagree. all it did was give them the courage to make all the cuts thats they knew customers and employees would've screamed about before 9/11. the airlines no longer have to try to win customers, they are too big to fail!

Here's the kicker for us locals. Since 2000, Nevada Power has raised rates about 180%. They are currently asking for another rate increase! They made a couple of bad deals w/ California durring the power crunch and now want to stick us locals for the lost revenue.
