Perhaps the "whole story" is not being publicized just yet--? Maybe the Webmiles program has decided to, pursued, & obtained a different telecomm partner (& one which [not surprisingly] desires exclusivity)--?

Just a thought...

Hmmm...I just checked out the WebMiles site, & MCI is no longer listed in the program partners summary...

I think WebMiles screwed up by not having a new card waiting in the wings, but I don't think the program is dead. I received my credit card bill on Friday - it showed credit for 8,800 miles. I went to WebMiles.com and my account shows that the additional miles were added (which puts me over 50,000 - two tickets). I called 1-877-WebMiles Saturday. The WebMiles office is only open Monday-Friday, but you can book flights anytime (it's a separate company that subcontracts to WebMiles). The travel agent verified my mileage and was ready to reserve me a couple of tickets using WebMiles. So I think we're OK for now.

In the meantime, I'll be using my Citibank AAdvantage card.

Don't know if you Webmilers got this info, but yesterday I sent an e-mail to the Webmiles people - here's what they sent back today:

Thank you so much for being a WebMiles member!

We will email you an on-line application for the new WebMiles Visa as soon as it's available, which will be the first week in September. Our first priority is to get these cards out to our current card holders as soon as possible.

During the interim, you will be able to use any other major credit card and earn WebMiles for those purchases by transferring the balance to our new Visa when it's available. You may transfer your outstanding balance from any credit card to our new WebMiles Visa & earn one mile for every
dollar you transfer.

Thank you for your patience. We understand that this is an inconvenience to our members and we're trying to make it as painless as possible. Please look for the email from us early next month and let me know if
you need any additional assistance.

Sincerely,

Lance

thanks for the info that's the most conciliatory response from them so far

at one time they were saying transfer the balance from the old card but if you're canceling the direct merchants card you cant do that

i wish i had a citibank aa card you could get double miles that way

glad to see they are going to connect their old members to the new card first

glad to see that webmiles people exist!

I was wondering what your experience was with Webmiles and their credit card. Does anyone have any feedback?
