Status 2002 Updates

Hey gang..

Just wanted to fill everyone in on what my sales reps have told me.

The major airlines that haven't announced they are carrying over your status to 2002 are in fact going to do this. They are all going to wait until mid-december to announce this as to keep us flying and doing our best to reach our status quo's for next year's program.

American and Alaska have so far announced that your priviledges will be carried over to 2002... expect everyone else to announce something between 10 November and 20 December (talk about a nice Christmas gift, huh?).

Double miles will be extended for many flyers, but on a case-by-case basis (or should I say batch?). Some flyers for United have received a mailing stating you will get double miles for January - April flying 2002 if you fly at least 2,000 miles between August and October (ok, how hard is that gonna be?), as well as the present promotion giving *everyone* double miles between now and 15 November (had to be shy of Thanksgiving, huh?).

TWA miles are up in the air, even though American said they will carry over most people's status, I think they are going to require some additional flying for 2001 in order to maintain your status in 2002. I've also heard from a few sources at AMR that if you are a TWA Elite, your status *won't* be carried over to 2002 unless you have earned it for next year's levels.

Also expect some changes to happen, including incrimental ticketing/mileage rewards, as we saw some of this tested this year. The airlines will soon take this on full time from what I've heard.

Nate

ernie, just be sure to book your next cruise through a travel agent versus direct :P won't cost you anything more, and you may get a free upgrade or two!

In regards to Status with NW/CO/HP: The partners have all not agreed in unison to carry your benefits over to 2002 *yet* and this is essential for it to happen program wide.

Incremental mileage will allow you to pay for part of your airline ticket with miles and cash, but on a larger scale than offered in July / August by TWA, American, & Northwest. (I think Delta did this too).

But so far, United has given us many hints it will carry Premier, Premier Exec, and 1K status over to 2002 unless you've already met Premier status... 1K comp upgrades are gone though (oh well).

TWA Advantage Elite members will not be given status with American Advantage UNLESS they've earned it for 2002. :/

I'm still confused, UAPremierExec. You say UA 1K comp upgrades are gone. What does this mean? That those who were comped to 1K (I didn't know there were any) will not receive the status carry-over? That the SWUs 1Ks receive will not be offered next year? Or the NA confirmed upgrades? Or complimentary upgrades on the soon to be non-existent UA Shuttle?

Hmmm.
I'm wondering about the TWA info posted here.
If you are an elite1 on TWA you are comped already to an PLT for 2001 on AA. I spoke to AA today about this and it holds. I don't know how it works for Elites/Golds, but PLT are still PLTS until 2003. I'm not sure AA wants to alienate TWA customers, who regularly plop their behinds into seats for 50-70K a year.

I don't know where UAPremierExecis getting all his info from, but this ain't necessarily so.

Does this also mean that all the CO, NW, US, UA,DL,AC flyers that were comped to AA as GLDS and PLTS also lose their status for 2002? Enquiring minds want to know.

Not sure on this but it seems that what will grant equiv AA status for 02 to any TWA flyer who qualifies this year. If A TWA flyer currently holds status with TWA but will not requalify this year then AA will not extend their status as they are with all other AAdvantage members.

My take is that this first post is about 90% wild speculation/guesswork and 10% fact - the latter all has long been reported on this Forum.

Who on earth is Nate, (and how old is he?)and how does anyone have a clue he is not simply guessing? i.e. WHAT alleged "hints" have United given that they will extend status HUH Nate? Get real.

Well, go to www.planebusiness.com, go to the Message Boards, click on the United forum... take note of the United 175 forum and LOOK at the TIME it was posted. Remember it took the media 6 hours to properly get the right flight #s of the planes that hit the WTC... I was on the phone with the United Airlines Regional Sales Account Manager in Orlando at 925AM when they found out about it...

So I tend to think that my sources at United tend to be right on 100% of the time.......

That's because the original has an extraneous comma at the end that makes the call fail. Use this

UAPremierExec,

I strongly recommend you to delete your source of information to protect him/her.
The way you described your info source is so specific that a person in a proper position in United would easily be able to pin-point who your source is.
If it is really true, your info source would be in a big trouble for this disclosure.

There were reports very shortly after the 9/11 incident on this board as well, identifying (correctly) all four of the planes involved, in some cases hours before anything was reported on the media. I'm not sure this can be considered "identifying information".

Regarding the TWA Status Issue:

I'm TWA Plat & TWA Life Plat. AA issued me an EXP card for 2001 this past summer. I received a letter over the last week from AA saying that my status had been extended through 2/2003. This is with all of 5,300 AA miles earned YTD...(they haven't moved over the 2001 Aviator's activity yet).

Hopefully that clears up the confusion.
